Well, we are a casualty of the swine flu, at least our trip is. LOL I spent the night in the ER last night. My 6yo has the swine flu, but the prob is that she also has another unidentified infection keeping her from fighting it off. She was given IV fluids, IV antibiotics, and Tamiflu. She went to bed Saturday night and was still not awake Monday night other than the occasional opened eyes and lifted head. We had to go back to the doc today for more bloodwork as they are trying to figure out what the other infection is.

Well, since she is missing 5 days of school this week (her first full week of Kindergarten) there is know way I can pull her in Oct for 5 days. They limit how many days a semester you can miss.

I am rescheduling the trip for the end of May. Their last day is May 26th and it is half a day. I will arrive on the 27th and stay until the 6th of June. It is costing me $20 more per day. I am hoping the military tix continue next year or that will be another $500 more on tix. I am glad I held off on buying them yet or I would be out $500 as they expire end of December whether you use them or not. On a positive note, we will get to stay longer because we won't have to worry about getting home for anything.

I have gone in mid May, but never late May, early June. What should I expect in heat and crowds both at FW and in the parks. I am hoping to be there 12 days but only 5 in the parks. Can I make it with just a couple of fans? What about rain? Can I leave the rain fly off of my tent at night for better ventilation? Any other tips for that time of year?

I am definitely missing the flexibility of homeschooling about now. LOL

Oh my!

Good luck Mommaloya! Take it easy in your family. The Fort will still be there.

Hope your DD gets well soon.

PS-We went around Memorial Day weekend in 2006 May. It was warmer, muggier, but still nice at night. There was one bad day of rain but late May is still okay in a tent. Wouldn't push it much past that, though.

I'm sorry you have to postpone your trip. The main thing is for your daughter to get well. Disney will be there when you're all ready.
We have visited the end of May and love :lovestruc the weather. While it was warm it wasn't humid. It's nice that you won't have to rush home..and another plus is that the parks are open later..and I personally enjoy more hours of daylight as opposed to October when the days get shorter.

Sending you and your family prayers of speedy recovery .....she will get better soon. Like said before, Disney will be there when your daughter is well and you get to stay longer! Let us know how she is doing.....

It hurts terribly when our babies are suffering. I am praying for a speedy recovery for your DD, you, and the entire family. Get better quickly!

As for May, we did a Disney trip in late May 2001 (not FW...but WLV). We had a great time! Weather was not an issue in the least. Hey, you live in Louisiana...you can handle some heat and humidity!

Thanks for the well wishes guys. Today she is actually awake and she ate. She has lost 2 pounds, which is significant considering she is 6 and a half and only weighed 33 pounds to begin with. I went through the drive thru at McDs today to get her some fatty foods to put some meat back on her bones. LOL She is well enough that I am gonna have the school send her schoolwork home with my son so she can catch up.

Thanks also for the tips for May. I did not realize I would be there memorial day. Is it more crowded then? I need to make my ressies now I guess. I am hoping that a lot of schools are still in session until the second week of June.

And Dave, even though I live in Louisiana, I HATE the heat. I tend to hide all summer unless someone lures me outside with a water activity. LOL

I guess I will leave the rain fly off at nite, but keep it handy just in case. I will put it on in the morning before we leave. I love sleeping w/o the fly on, almost like sleeping totally outside, minus the bugs. I will definitely bring fans.

Thanks again guys.
