What should happen to the player that threw the punch?

I think he should be suspended the rest of the season. He's lucky that he's not having felony charges filed on him or being kicked out of school completely.

Well, I kind of wonder what it means for his year at school. I'm not a huge college football fan so I don't know the repercussions if he is suspended from the football team in regards to his scholarship IF he happens to be on a football scholarship.

Ok he was really out of line and I'm glad he was suspended....BUT I saw the video and it looks like the guy who got punched made a smart comment and first slapped him on the shoulder....maybe if he hadn't touched the other guy and kept his mouth shut, he wouldn't have gotten punched? I admit I got a little pleasure seeing that smirk wiped off his face...

my problem was with when he was being escorted off the field (by security) he nearly jumped into the seats, going after some fans...

The other guy probably did say something smart to him...and it looks like he was being reprimanded for it by HIS coach. The boy in question was in a pre game conference saying it wasn't cool to lose your cool on the field (paraphrasing of course)

Coach Pete was definitely all ready in position to control his player, and had turned him away, when the punch came.
I am glad the duck was suspended but also happy to hear they are letting him stay in school on his scholarship.

Our defense was (as per usual) fab last night....the offense, yowza that was an ugly win.But a win it was ! Go Bronco Nation !

I mean come on, he made a mistake and he is paying for it dearly, but you want more? show him no mercy? I think there was only one person on here who said he should get assault charges or kicked out of school. I said he was lucky that that didn't happen to him and he is. Those were definitely both possibilities. I've never been in a physical fight in the heat of a moment but I've definitely been in my share of verbal fights and felt bad later about it.
Judy, believe it or not your college team is one of my favorite college teams (I also love the Gators, but more for my boyfriend.) They have been ever since they went undefeated the first time and didn't get a chance at a big Bowl game.

How cool! We are the epitome of a hard working blue collar team who gets where they go on grit and heart, and very good coaching. It is sad that lack of "talented" prima donnas actually give you less respect? Our team fits our State's values and we wouldn't want it any other way.

The year suspension was adequate. I think the Boise State player has been talked to and is getting some sort of punishment. If you watch the video, his coach was already addressing the situation when the kid got punched.

Taunting is part of the game. Trash talking is part of the game. I'm not at all saying it is right but it happens. A lot.

Had Blount just punched Hout, I'm not sure his punishment would have been the full season. However, he had to be restrained from attacking fans.

Many years ago I was on the field at an Oregon State v USC game. This is a big rivalry and Oregon State had not won against USC in something like 26 years. When Oregon State won, the fans rushed the field while the USC players were still coming off. I witnessed MANY Oregon State fans screaming in the faces of the USC players. There was lots of fan taunting of the players. You know what the USC players did? They ignored it. All of them. It was like they didn't even hear it. People were inches away from then and they really couldn't have cared less.

To me that is where Blount failed.

He keeps his scholarship. He gets to practice and maybe he'll learn a lesson.
