Posted wait times wildly off...WAY LONGER!

I am sorry the OP has been frustrated. No one wants to be frustrated on vacation.

Closed attractions could be safety issues. It’s disappointing, but I would rather they would be safe. Guests want the parks opening earlier and closing later, and that really reduces the amount of time available to maintain and repair rides. We can’t have it both ways.

Attractions closing early during peak times is on Disney. Even if they announced months ago that the were reducing hours through Easter, if the ride is functioning they should be revisiting that decision daily, especially if other rides have to be down unexpectedly during peak season.

Wait time signs are also on Disney. It sounds like the OP wasn’t the only one who was noticing the discrepancy. While Disney can’t do anything about the actual wait time, they do have the ability to put a more accurate number on the sign so a guest can choose whether that wait time fits in with their plans.

:rotfl:They need to go back to using the red cards to keep track of line wait times

We were there last week and we didn’t notice times to be to far off from actual wait times. We have been there when for one reason or another many rides were down, this backs up everything!!

Hey I don't make the rules I'm just explaining where I found the information :wave2:.

I was in Magic Kingdom last week when space mountain AND 7DMT went down at the same time. It was a nightmare. Everyone flocked to Splash Mountain (which we had fastpasses for) and the fastpass line was about 45 minutes long. The Ariel ride also went down a few days before. It was the ONE ride my 5 yo was looking forward to.

All the years we have gone. We have not experienced anything close to that. Glad I’m not there today!!
Sure an attraction may be down now and then. But nothing that last long. This is unusual what you describe. Never experienced anything close to it. I made the comment to my wife last visit that the park looked brand new. Everything perfect.
:rotfl2:

This is all par for the course for Disney these days. It's what happens when you constantly cut budgets, hire cheap labor, and focus just on acquiring and capitalizing on new IP. Heck, they can't even keep the bathrooms clean half the time nowadays. I've had several experiences at Disney the past few years that would be unimaginable 15 years ago.

It is what it is, I'm afraid. If we want to remember what Disney World used to be like, we have to fly to Tokyo now.

I never understood the debbie downers when it comes to WDW. I mean compared to any other vacation destination I've been to..and that's a lot state side. I have never been to any thats darn near perfect..To us WDW/DLR is. Especially Disneyland. Is immaculate. WDW is also, but with DL being the founding father of theme parks..its always set to a massively high standard.
And, DL lives up to that. Considering the millions that goto Disneyworld..It is simply amazing how perfect things are.
We just love it..every time.

We’re good :flower3: I was just addressing the concerns of the OP, a lot of which I agreed with. Disney can’t control everything but they should be controlling everything they can that affects the guest experience. They have gotten lazy when it comes to the little things, but the little things are what guests notice first.

I love Disney and think most of us on these boards do that is why we are here! I still think it is a wonderful family vacation. Speaking honestly about changes in the experience is not being a Debbie-downer (sorry Debbies). We are passionate about Disney and have high expectations, based on past experiences. But I don't expect a Six Flaggish type experience when I visit and that is what some people are describing, in terms of ride mechanics, cleanliness, and staff attitudes. While we shouldn't be constantly complaining (why go then) we also shouldn't so easily let "Disney" off the hook for changes that have devalued the vacation (rapidly rising prices, decreased hours, decreased staff, dirty bathrooms, upcharges, adding more good neighbor hotels, reducing resort benefits like adding parking fees and decreasing EMH, etc.). Although I am seeing clearly now, I absolutely will be putting on my rose colored glasses when I get there because I won't let any of this ruin my vacation, first with the grands, and looking forward to seeing the magic through their eyes.

Everyone goes to Disney with different expectations, and have subjective experiences when there, it's just the way the world works. I think that is why it's so important to have firsthand experiences even when you see varying reports... we've all seen it on the Dis; one member says the park is packed, one says it is low crowds, and it's the same day, and both members think they are right.

Rides go down for all kinds of reasons, including guest-induced problems. My first and only trip to DL we were in line for PoC for a good hour when they finally came out and said sorry, the ride is down indefinitely. Was I upset? Yes, I was upset I couldn't ride, not upset with DL. We adapted and moved on. Everyone also has their own breaking point, that's ok too. I stopped going back when Disney let their parks slide (EPCOT and MK being the only two at the time); it was crowded and dirty (garbage on main street! Eek!), so I took a break and they fixed the problems over time and I went back. Reports of these things are good, but unless people experience things for themselves it's hard to tell if it is something that would put you off or not.

At Star Tours, the cast members just shrugged when they were asked what was going on and said they couldn't do anything about it. I told her it was her job to manage the line and that the time listed should reflect the truth, not be a total fiction. She finally picked up the phone and I heard her shock when she found out half the lanes were closed.

Wow. That comment makes you sound like a total, well, tool is the word that comes to mind. No one lies to be told what their job is. I get being upset and wanting to bring the time to someone's attention. But you don't have to be rude when doing so.

I haven't found it "par for the course". Sad that you have.

So what was her job then? Just to stand there? She had no idea how long the line was or what was going on and didn't lift a finger to figure anything out, even when multiple parties were storming out of the ride past her or asking her about it.

It is simply not the Disney way.

No but telling someone "Your job is to do X" is very rude. For all you know she had asked, and was being brushed off. Again, you were not wrong to be upset. But she was probably not the one causing the problem and not deserving of your ire.

I want to add, I have been there! I will never forget Winnie the Pooh and the line that went on forever. The CM would let 4 standby guests in (and I watched when I got close enough to see what was going on) and then clear the FP line, which rarely was empty. Very Frustrating!! I wanted to go and give that guy a piece of my mind, sooo badly!! But all that would have happened is that I would have looked like an idiot, and probably scared a few children.

Oh, I'm totally serious.. To me, WDW or DLR is better than ever.
Been going as an adult since 1990

Meh, as they saying goes, haters gonna hate. If they want to think WDW only cares about money, cuts everything, etc...that's cool. I'm more with you on this. While I don't think WDW is perfect, I never fail to be completely impressed by it every time. Considering the size and scope of WDW and all that it must take to run that place, I think it's amazing. I also think the CMs are fabulous, not "cheap labor" as a PP posted. They are what add the extra magic to every trip.

And have you called or emailed anyone about your complaints? Because for me that is NOT par for the course at Disney...period. Glad you have the money to fly to Tokyo, not all of us have that means.
