Thanks! I'm glad you liked the pictures! I know taking kids to V&A's is a controversial thing! (and VERY expensive!) I wouldn't have done it if they were not well behaved and ready for a serious dining experience. I wanted my kids to eat in a 5-star restaruant in their 'formative' years so they can take the experience with them for the rest of their lives. You can't always eat like this, but for special occaisions, there's nothing quite like it. We made dining at the Chef's Table the special 'extra' of our vacation. (The year before, we saw Cirque's La Nouba - which I also highly recommend!) I guess I was a bit worried about my youngest daughter who is 11, because she's the pickiest eater of the family, but as you can see by her empty plate - V&A's won her over with no problems! Now they all want to go back! I think we'll be going to TRU or Trotter's in Chicago next...

sigh... Michelle, are you looking to adopt any adult kid by any chance? :rotfl:
I would love to go to V&A but my DBF would not set foot in there (he's the pickiest eater I've ever met) and I don't have the guts to eat there by myself hehe...

Good for you taking your kids to 5 star restaurants. My parents took all of us kids to places like street vendors all the way to 5 star restaurants. Because of them I'm a self proclaimed foodie and have no fear of trying anything at least once.
I think it's wonderful that you expose your kids to fine dining... :)

Do you happen to know if there are age restrictions at V&A's? Would love to take my kids there sometime--they're becoming regular foodies!
Thanks! :)

I don't think that there is an age restriction, but they do charge full price for everyone. There are no children's menus. The boys have to wear a suit jacket & tie and the girls have to dress properly as well. We made a big deal out of buying our V&A attire before our trip and packed it all in a separate suitcase. My 11 year old loved her dress so much, she had to stand up next to the Chef's Table and 'twirl' for our Victoria & Albert. (Although, she would not have been able to do that in the regular dining room.) It was definately more relaxed at the Chef's Table than it is in the main dining room, and I wouldn't hesitate to reserve it again. My husband and I ate in the dining room a few months later for our Anniversary, and while it was just as fantastic of a meal (and very romantic) I enjoyed the Chef's Table more.

LiteBrite - what fabulous food! I'm practically slobbering here. The mushroom ragout, sticky toffee pudding and No Way Jose look amazing!!! Thanks for the pics! We had the fish and chips at Rose & Crown too - delicious.

Thanks! The mushroom ragout was one of the best things I had all week - the broth it was in was amazing. I also loved the Guiness Stew, which had such a good flavor, and the beef was very tender.

ILuvDisney..thanks for the pics of GFC!! We've been there before and loved it, but the menu has changed so I was rethingking our ADRs. But after seeing your pics we are defintely keeping that ADR! Thanks, again!

Does anyone have any pictures of the Eggs Benedict from the Grand Floridian Cafe? Hadn't had them since we were at Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans a couple a years ago. Got a hankerin' for them !

These pics just make you long to be there :hourglass & HONGRI (not hungry) but HONGRI. (or is that a word). :lmao:

Mlill, those are fantasic pics. of the V&A food items. They are really more like art pieces rather than food, lol.

I went there actually a few years ago when I was 13 with my family and two other friends (my sister was only 14). We absolutly loved it! The only thing I would say about the problem of younger children who are well-behaved is that they probably will not have a clue of what they are eating! LOL. I know I had a lot of trouble trying to just say the names of some of that food. Some of the food is unlike any other, but still tastes out of this world!

When we went, though, we had a MAJOR problem! My dad had forgotten his jacket at HOME!!! LOL. By the time he found out his problem there wasn't much time to buy a new one. He went through all the shops at the GF, but none sold jackets. He ended up having to borrow one from the restaurant for that night. They are really strict on the dress code!

The only problem I had with V&A was that I am allergic to seafood, and since I had no clue what I was eating, it was hard for me to feel assured that it didn't have fish in it, lol. I know that they make a record of people who have certain allergies, but I was 13, and was very scared that my vacaction would be ruined by a piece of food, LOL.

We are planning on going back this summer, and I can't wait! :goodvibes

KingdomHeartsFan, that's so funny that our posts are back to back, and we have 3 almost identical photos (stewed mushrooms, fish & chips, and sticky toffee pudding)!

Glad to hear that we aren't the only ones who have a teen who is a foodie in training. :thumbsup2

DD has eaten at V&A's in the main dining room ... once for my 40th birthday party with 20 of our families and friends in the "fireplace room." She also dined with us during a regular visit to WDW.

She really enjoys learning about new foods and cooking so I think this is right up her alley.

MiLill You get the award for "Best photographer of Food"!! :thumbsup2 . I especially liked the showcasing of the Mickey noodle. You son look like he had fun being a "background model", :rotfl: .

What is a Grand Gathering Dessert Party could you tell me the details??

TIA!
Sue

I think you meant me!

I copied an excerpt from All Ears on another post, but basically, it is for a group of 8 or more peope (we had 10). We had an international dinner at the Odyssey Restaurant-foods from all over the World Showcase. There was a DJ and Minnie and Goofy came. We were all given a special pin that allowed us entrance into the area where we were to view Illuminations. Once in the special area, we found a beverage table and a couple of dessert tables. Everything was delicious and the view of Illuminations was spectacular!

LiteBrite, did you guys enjoy Rose & Crown as much as we did?? The Guinness stew looked amazing too! I will be sure to try that next time!

I loved the Rose and Crown too! I am the only one who ate the peas, but we all loved the mushroom ragout it is so rich!

We did enjoy it a lot, although our server wasn't the best. The food was amazing, though.

Ok, here are the promised pictures. I did 10 nights of the dining plan, but only have the last couple of meals I'm afraid! Due partially to only buying the camera before the last 4 nights, and then forgetting to take any photos til the last day or two. But here are the few that I have...

Mexico, Morocco and a Turkey leg
