Oh no, we always stop there on our way to WDW, this is how we get in the mood, I am actually bummed that a restaurant closed down, did another restaurant move in that space.

No, nothing is there yet and no signs either. I just found out it closed down after Christmas when we went, so bummed about it. I don't understant it either, the place was always packed. Having two right here near us makes me have no interest at all to go to the one in Disney, but I guess now I can go and it will be something special.

Here are two pictures from our dinner at Victoria & Albert's Chef's Table...

mmmmm.... Kobe Beef! mmmmmm.....

It closed somewhere around Oct. 4th, 2005. We drove up there for my birthday (really for the kids). I haven't been there since then so I'm sure if anything has taken it's place yet. There was a sign on there saying to visit the RFC in Towson, MD (I think that's where it was). Tyson Corner opened a new wing with a few new restaurants, nothing like RFC though.

As for the sparklers..my Dd had one for her b-day about 2 yrs ago. Maybe they stopped using them because parents were afraid or something? Or maybe due to some regulations? Who knows. :confused3 I wonder if RFC is having financial troubles. I mean the RFC in Tyson's Corner was usually packed. Except for the last year. It's a fast paced booming area so I don't see why it closed. It wasn't even announced and we kept calling to try and make reservations but there was no answer or message. Let me know if I can recommend any new places for you to stop on your trip down.

We're like that too. We'd go to the Tysons one instead of the WDW one, but now we'll have to go!!

Thanks Pam, we take the autotrain down, so Tysons corner is a great convenient stop for us before going to Lorton, I lloked at the website and noticed that there is now a California Kitchen, as well as a TGI Friday, so we might go to one of those.

Sorry, OT, but what is the autotrain? I am in NY & never heard of it...

The autotrain is one where you put your vehicle on to take it with you. It runs from Lorton, VA to Sanford, FL. My friend and her family took it down there once when we were going on a cruise.

It's taken me four days to get through this entire thread (all 161 pages!) and now I'm in a food coma! :faint: DH thought I was nuts!
This thread has me all psyched up for our trip in 46 days! :mickeyjum

I loved the pictures posted by Oogieboogie, Mister Disney and others I am now at a loss to remember their names. Mister Disney, I also saw your V & A review and really enjoyed it!

Keep the pictures coming! I'd love to see more pictures of the CRT breakfast food and the Biergarten buffet. We're going to WCC and I can't wait! We plan on hitting Beaches & Cream our first night there.

I didn't take many food pictures on our last trip, but I definitely will this time around! Here's a picture of my daughter and her "mickey-roni and cheese" from Spoodles. She opted to have the marinara sauce on it.

waughzee,

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh...I'm so hungry after looking at your photos. I feel real depressed now since we're not headed back to WDW for 3 years at least (earliest opportunity may be Dec 2008). I enjoyed eating on site last year instead of cheaping out and eating crap offsite. :sunny:

Waaaaaaaaaah....

By the way....what's the Illuminations Grand Gathering Dessert Buffet??? I don't recall hearing about this before. Looks and sounds yummy!!! :cloud9:

The Dessert Buffet was part of a trip that my friend won from McDonald's. We happened to be there the same time that she was taking her trip, so she added us to her "grand gathering" and we were able to be part of this great event!

This is from disneyworld.com:

Thanks Michelle!! I am at work (shhh) and can't wait to share those photos with DH.

We are debating about taking DD, who is 13 going on 30, with us to the Chef's Table. I see from your photos that you had some young adults with you. Thoughts on taking the younger set?

MiLill You get the award for "Best photographer of Food"!! :thumbsup2 . I especially liked the showcasing of the Mickey noodle. You son look like he had fun being a "background model", :rotfl: .

What is a Grand Gathering Dessert Party could you tell me the details??

TIA!
Sue

Thanks! I'm glad you liked the pictures! I know taking kids to V&A's is a controversial thing! (and VERY expensive!) I wouldn't have done it if they were not well behaved and ready for a serious dining experience. I wanted my kids to eat in a 5-star restaruant in their 'formative' years so they can take the experience with them for the rest of their lives. You can't always eat like this, but for special occaisions, there's nothing quite like it. We made dining at the Chef's Table the special 'extra' of our vacation. (The year before, we saw Cirque's La Nouba - which I also highly recommend!) I guess I was a bit worried about my youngest daughter who is 11, because she's the pickiest eater of the family, but as you can see by her empty plate - V&A's won her over with no problems! Now they all want to go back! I think we'll be going to TRU or Trotter's in Chicago next...

Do you happen to know if there are age restrictions at V&A's? Would love to take my kids there sometime--they're becoming regular foodies!
Thanks! :)
