Fizz13 - thanks for posting those pictures of San Angel Inn. The food looks good. How was it? We have ressies there on Sept 9th (b/c we couldn't get LeCellier) and I was a little apprehensive but the Plato Mexicano looks good.

ummm, ok honestly? i wasn't blown away by it. For the price you pay, you expect more quality, and on the plato mexicano the steak was just well done and not a good cut of meat, the enchilada was nice but no different to the counter service outside, the beef flauta lacked flavour, and the only redeeming point was the rice. I would have been better having counter service outside. having said all that, the tortilla soup was a knock out. I think out of 10 it rates a 5 on service and quality and i would go back if I couldn't get anywhere else but i wouldn't stick my neck out to get a ressie. I think it could depend on what you order, as the other entree my friend had was yummy, so try something different, you might be pleseantly suprised.

Thank you fizz13. I was worried about this ressie. I will keep trying to get LeCellier; I know it will be a long shot but I will keep trying.
Does anybody know when the new place will replace Alfredos and when they will start taking ressies? TIA

This sounds (and looks like) authentic Mexican food. I know a man who owns an authentic Mexican restaurant and he and I have talked on occasion about his native cuisine. He has said the idea of eating a whole steak is uncommon in is homeland; meat is traditionally served in small, well done portions referred to as "carne or pollo de asada" (which means grilled). Mexican restaurants serve larger portions of meat in the USA to satisfy the American need for a plate full of protein. They often don't ask "how do you want your steak" because in their part of the world it gets made into "asada" which is always well done. Another way they often Americanize the food in Mexican restaurants is to season everything to death. Most Mexican households will season with a little salt and pepper while cooking, and when they consume the food at meal time add flavors with mole, salsa, pico, lime juice and other condiments. Real Mexican food is not overly seasoned as we are accustomed to in the USA. Funny piece of trivia: American's were first introduced to Mexican food in the early 1970's by what chain based in California????

TACO BELL :scared1:..........at first they served authentic Mexican cuisine, but to boost sales in an American market they had to reinvent the food and make it appeal to our ideas and concepts; what a shame.:sad2:

REGARDING THE LOVELY EGGROLL from the magic kingdom (I tried to quote and get the original picture but I don't know how) so this post is in reply to a post on like page 2. *sigh* newbies  l-D Umm.. but this is just a general comment on appetizers at TS restaraunts:

Yes, it looks good! (picture lovely giant eggroll cut in half) Does anybody else have this sinking feeling that an $8 eggroll (yes it's big-ish, yes it's crab) is something that was only enjoyable on the pre 2008 dining plan??

Now that the dining plan is "down with appetizers!" I am WAY too cheap to buy something like that - no matter how good it looks.

Lunch At AKL, fried shrimp and a falafel

What's the drink in the front, by the shrimp. It looks like it says Appletini, but I'm not sure. I always thought that was a mixed drink. I didn't know you could get it in a bottle.

Disney now sells the Appletinis and Cosmos in little bottles at resorts.
I want to say they at $6 a piece, but I'm not entirely sure about that. But I can confirm that they both are very tasty.
