We ate at Jiko a couple weeks ago and although the food was good, it was certainly not worth 2 TS credits. I would have much preferred to use 2 TS credits at California Grill.

New York Strip with Scallops Add On:

Is That 10 Scallops for an add on?!!! How much did you pay OOP for the scallop add on? It looks fabulous!

It was all fabulous - I HIGHLY recommend Spoodles!!

It was actually a double add on, but we didn't know that and didn't order it that way. My shrimp was 14 total and I was blown away. We were told right from the beginning that we could add anything on and it was included. He told us that if we ordered the fettucine alfredo and wanted shrimp, scallops AND chicken, we could have it. No OOP cost. Same with add on's to the steak.

DS woke up right before dessert and wasn't happy so he and I waited outside while DH "paid". He saw that my steak said something like $47 and his was itemized with the cost of steak ($27.99) and then scallops $6.99 and scallops $6.99. He asked our server and was told that they doubled our add on. :confused3 He explained how the 18% tipping works and told DH that pretty much everyone doubles the add ons if you want.

When we went back the second time, we ordered the steak and each ordered one add on of shrimp. Our server (different this time) asked if we wanted scallops too, but we declined.

Spoodles is, hands down, the best DDP value. And it is delicious!!!

Is this place a buffet? I keep hearing about Tonga Toast but after seeing this picture I am sure I could eat 5 of those little things (if i liked them)

Tonga Toast is WAY bigger than it looks in that pic. I can barely finish it.

Nope, Kona Cafe is a sit down TS restaurant with a menu right next to 'Ohana in the Poly.

The Tonga Toast is actually huge. Probably about 4 inches tall and from the top it's the size of a regular piece of bread...?? It's bread, stuffed with bananas and then deep fried and rolled in sugar and cinnamon. I was very impressed, but it was really heavy...imagine fry bread. I am a pretty good eater, but I didn't even finish mine (Okay, I'll be honest...I left about one crust, but that counts as not finishing, right??? :teeth: )

I ordered it because it is quintessential old WDW. I think the Poly had always had it?? It was very good, but I'm glad I ordered the smoothie to cut the heavy sweetness.

We loved Kona Cafe - very good food. DS was at the Pirate Cruise that morning, so we took the monorail from the GF to the Poly and had a breakfast "date". We paid OOP with the DDE for this breakfast, since it wasn't the best DDP value and we had dinner plans later to use the credits on.

Anyone have a picture of the french toast loaf that is sold in the MK?

I don't have a photo of it, but I can tell you it's one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life!!! We absolutely love it - it's like french toast and bread pudding all mixed up in one. Drizzle some maple syrup and I'm in heaven.

www.allearsnet.com has the recipe in case you wanted to try it at home.

It was a little hard to eat gracefully, but yes...it was wonderful! The flatbread was a soft pita, the greens had a vinaigrette on them, the rotisserie beef was medium rare and tender and the chimichurri sauce was really yummy.

The strawberry shortcake with it was divine!!!

If you could see me, you'd know eating gracefully isn't high on my list!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

My mouth is watering :)

Roaring Fork - Wilderness Lodge

Not a good shot of the bacon cheeseburger, but it was really good! Mainly what I wanted to show was how huge the brownie was - it's at least four times larger than any brownie I'd ever cut. It was also divine - very fudgy and dark chocolate.

I was watching Disneyworld Unwrapped on the food network last night. Does anyone go to Jiko or something like that. I'd be interested in hearing what people think.

Thanks! (I'll also do a search up top, but someitmes it doesn't work for me.)

Okay, it worked, and there were some pics, but what do people feel about this place? I know it is slightly :offtopic: . Thanks

I saw that last night too! Such a great show, I hope it's on again, I love Disney food!! I hope it's on again! BTW, I am DEFINITLY going to Kona Cafe for breakfast next time I go to Disney! That Big Kahuna breakfast looked irresistable!
