Having gone to this a few times now, and being a costume maker, I am allways intriqued by what everyone else is going to wear to the party.

So I thought it might be fun if we all could post
1) when we are going
2) how many going
3) what there costume is gonna be
and
4) why that/where you got it or the idea for it, and what it is all about.

And if you can't go this year, then what have you all wore in the past.

And if you just have a favorite Disney inspired costume you are wearing to a event some where else thats fine with me too!

I'll go first...
2 years ago,DH&Me no costume. DS 17 went as Clopin from Hunchback. He let me know the night before we left... so I had to make the 2color tights, tunic, hat, and shoes. It turned out so well that he signed autographs all night at the MNSSPH! And he forgot the black long gloves and we had to buy some and when they started to fall apart I found a Tech CM and he took DS behind the scenes to show his friend that was the CM Costumer on duty and find me a needle and thread. So that made the costume extra good for DS!

Last year DH wore a bright orange Polo shirt, so I wore a green polo shirt and made a vine that went around my body and a hat with leaves. He was a Pumpkin and I was "de-vine"... SIL was a spider web, and DNiece 2 1/2 yo was Cinderella, complete with gloves, little black necklace and 300 + crystal on the dress. DS 13 was Peter Pan.

This year DNeice allready has a Snow White dress I made today, but since she won't take it off it will prop. be worn out. So I am thinking of doing wither Belle's Gown, or of making Alice in Wonderland , embroidering all the characters on the pinafore and then ordering the Cheshire Cat purse from WDW. SIL will be what ever the DN desides... And I think I want to make the gown that Bette Milder ? wore in Hocus Pocus. Saw it a month ago at Planet Hollywood at WDW and it would be dead easy to make! We also have a ton of "Pirates" gong down... and maybe a gypsy or 2.

Hope to hear what you all are gonna wear and how you make it happen..
I have allways wanted to be Millicent- In Dragon mode... hope I got that right. Cause I think I have figured out how to do the costume.. or Cruella, or a bunch of us go as The Swiss Family. I also think that a group going as Tom Sawyer, Becky and Huck and Aunt Polly would be fun...

We attended last year and were no where as motivated as you... we brought a spiderman costume for our son (18 months). We also picked up a neat Mickey Mouse/Ghost trick-or-treat bag at our resort.
My wife and I hit the Walmart in Orlando for our "costumes" (I hesitate to call what we bought a costume). I got a Frankenstein mask and my wife got a Witch hat - I think each thing was like $2.99. We just wanted to get something that "felt" like Halloween, but wasn't too overboard.

You will have a great time - enjoy!

We are going to try to have a friend of my mom's make a JoJo costume. Our DD will turn 1 on our MNSSHP day. :flower:

We are going as Tourists from Tennessee! :teeth: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Shhhhhhhhh.....don't tell anyone! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Honestly, I wish I was motivated like that. I honestly enjoy watching what other people are wearing. I've even taken pics with other people in costumes.

Have a great time!!!!

Chris

Kramer, love the "simple" costumes! I hate masks/makeup so I did not even think of doing that! Since every room in the house, and all the cars have a stash of fabric/needles and thread that is what I think using first!
And I usually end up doing something for everyone else, kids first. The only time I do something for me is when I go to a Rennaiance Faire and "need" a new costume.. then I wear the 50 pounds of fabric, corset, and all... Can't image doing that down at WDW.., I could never get on a ride with the hoop skirt and corset. And if I did I wouldn't be able to get off..
The Hocus Pocus dress/long coat is just stenciled green velveteen and a lot of silk and cotton gauze. Easy, and a little flashy if I do my hair in the style of Bette M. Wonder if I could be the first person to spend the day at MK in perm curlers so my hair will be curly for the MNSSPH?..NOT!

My husband is going as a ganster, I am a Flapper, DD8 is the Queen of Hearts and DD12 is dressed up in a gown with masquarade eye mask.

So there are 4 of us, we are going on the 23rd of Oct. This will be our first MNSSHP

I'm still trying to decide, so this is a great thread. I thought of having our group of 4 go as Mouseketeers, but I wonder if that is too common? It would be pretty easy and comfortable.

We are going Oct 20...and are thinking of going the pirate route...were heading off on a Disney Cruise after a couple days at WDW...and thought it would be the best outfit for our group since we'll have Pirate night on the ship also...so double use for the outfits. :goodvibes This will be our first year at MNSSHP...matter of fact this is our first trip to WDW :goodvibes ....But don't tell anyone...it's a suprise to the kids ;) .

I love that trick-or-treat bag...it's sooo cute...are those available all over?

We saw the Mickey trick-or-treat bags in a few different shops around WDW, but ended up buying it at the CBR gift shop.

The pirate costumes sounds like a great idea... especially if you will be dressing up again on your cruise!

We are doing the MMC route - simple and easy - and both my dad, mom, and DH will agree to wear the shirt b/c it will just be a t-shirt :)

Plus another diser mentioned that she put a note on the back of hers that it was her birthday - so I am going to pur on the back of my dads that it is his birthday :)

We are there the 21st - see everyone there!

I need help deciding. At first the boys were going to dress up as the Three Musketeers which I have left over from last year. Mom made the capes and hats and I made the tunics. But then DH and I couldn't decide, maybe he would go as Capt. Pete and I would be princess Minnie.
Then DH said I should be Mary Poppins and he would be Bert and we would dress the boys up as chimney sweeps.
We are going Oct 7, the day we arrive. I'm fairly sure it will still be warm. Is Mary's nanny outfit going to be to warm?
Our other idea was dressing to boys up as the different stages of Anakin Skywalker from each movie.

Do alot/most adults dress up?

I see more of them dressing up each year. And I understand that the closer to Halloween the more quests do dress up. It is a matter of what you are comfortable with. I do think we got more candy when we dressed up. HA!

Just make sure you wear something you will be comfortable in. My DS's have no problem with costumes, but they do a lot of theater stuff. I haven't had a lot of prob. wearing a costume either, but I wear Elizabethan garments for fun, in the summer,... So that is not a good measurement for most folks.

Don't feel bad if you deside not to wear a costume. You'll still have fun!

We are a group of 4 adults and are dressing up as pirates for the 10/6 party.

We're going on 10/6 and "we" are myself, 41, and my best friend's daughter, 12. I don't know if she's into dressing up at her age. At this point, I can't really think of anything cute. Got any suggestions?

So I thought it might be fun if we all could post
1) when we are going October 2nd
2) how many going 8 or 9 MIL, DH, Me, BSitter 15, DD 11, DD 8, Ds4, Ds 2, and DMIL's nephew 1
3) what there costume is gonna be We will be ?, Cptn Hook, Peter Pan, Wendy, Tinkerbell, Little Bo Peep, Tour guide Barbie, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and Dumbo
and
4) why that/where you got it or the idea for it, and what it is all about. DS wanted Buzz and DH wouldn't be Zurg.

1- We are going September 30th.
2 - There will be six of us - Me, DH, DD9, DD7, My mom and dad.
3 - Costumes - Not sure yet! Two years ago my dd's were Wendy and Tink. The 7 yo wants to be Tink again, but don't know what the 9 year old wants to do. Not sure if the adults will dress up either. I'll be very pregnant so unless their is a Halloween costume for pregnant ladies then I'm stuck.
4- I think I will be looking here for costume inspirations!

We weill be there on October 13th. Our costumes should be simple.

DS8- He is going to be Luke Skywalker. I know, an oldie but goodie. He has seen every Star Wars movie at least 10 times (except for the new one) and knows most of the words by heart.

DS39- He is going as Obi-Wan. I know another oldie but goodie. He is the one that gave DS8 the idea for his costume. LOL!!

Me- Well, they are trying to talk me into keeping with the whole Star Wars theme. They want me to either be Priness Leia, or Padme. Ok, I am all for themes but come on guys. Give me something more original!! LOL!! I will have to look some more and see it I can't think of something else.

last year - I wore one of my black cocktail dressed with a cheep witches hat I purcahsed and glue gunners fake spiders on - it was super easy and it used something I had already owned... the rest of my group wore baseball jerseys and football jerseys... Depending on how large of a group you have you could def be a baseball team - or just diehard fans for a team :)

Here is a pic of me in my dress... you can just see the spider web tights I wore with the dress and hat...

We are going to the party on the 16th. The cast is me 35, dh 34, ds9, ds7, ds2. We are going with the Hercules theme. I will be Meg, dh Zeus, ds9 Hades, ds7 Hercules and ds2 Pegasus. We decided on Hercules because we thought the toga type costumes would be cooler in the Florida heat. I enjoy making costumes and make several each year. My favorites are of everyday items. Last year for a party at a favorite campground I went as a box of kleenex. This year for a Hawaiian themed party we are going to have a fish, a palm tree, a bottle of Hawaiian Tropic Suntan lotion a bear in a grass skirt and a Tiki Totem Pole. Its fun to look around the house and find an object that you can turn one of your kids into. Some favorites have been a flashlight (with working light) and a kid in a bathtub (using a wagon) complete with a bubble blower.
