Since we are going end of September, we wanted to wear something that was not constricting or hot. My parents are going with us and my dad is not too keen on dressing up, so DD thought of our new costumes. Papa and Daddy will be dressing as Hawaiian tourists. They will be wearing tacky Hawaiian shirts, shorts, sandals, panama jack hats, and will have leis around their necks. The girls (me, DD9 and Nana) will be the Hawaiian girls that welcome them to the island. We are wearing grass skirts (with shorts underneath) tank tops, leis, head wreath and ankle and wrist bracelets with sandals. Simple, easy, cheap and we will be not be sweating to death!

Plus we already have everything needed from a Luau we had this summer!

I wanted is to be a themed family (I never get that kind of fun) but I was limited by my autistic son who will not wear ANYTHING but his Mickey Mouse costume. Heck, he won't wear clothes that don't have Mickey Mouse on them anymore. Hey, it could be worse! :rolleyes1 So I was trying to think of what to do to keep us in theme, but different from what we're likely to see. Being different is something I love.

Got it!
Fantasia themed.
I'm the white pegasus, my DH is the black, my oldest DS loves studying mushrooms (Yes, he really does, and trees) so he'll be the dancing asian mushroom and my youngest, the one that HAS to be Mickey, will be the Sorcerer's apprentice Mickey. :hyper: I'm half way done w/ the costumes now. And no, I don't sew, not one stitch (on a machine that is). I'm excited! Traveling w/ the wings and the mushroom cap will be...interesting.:cool2:

That sounds fantastic!

I bought this LE Minnie Mouse dress from the Disney store yesterday for my 5 1/2 year old  problem is I bought her a Jasmine costume a few weeks ago fo the MNSSHP. We are booked in at the BBB at 2:30pm and then have ressies at CRT for 4pm. We are going with her cousins 6 and 11 years old. I am worried that she will want to be a princess instead :( I fell in love with the dress and really who doesn't love the shoes (I will pack comfy ones for the party) thoughts? Any good costume ideas for hubby and me?

Since we all agree pictures of costumes make things more fun I thought I would share some from some past parties:yay:

This one is from our first party, I assumed that this guy was a park employee-Nope this is a partygoer in FULL HEAD TO TOE Zurg-the little Buzz was mine. If look behind and see that ever so happy Jasmine-she was with Zurg and if looks could kill I'd be dead for just not getting that he wasn't a CM

I love your costumes! And I especially love your picture with Captain Jack! This will be our first MNSSHP and I must meet him! *swoon*

Thanks!!! Costumes make it so much fun I try encourage everyone to go for it. These were all from Sept parties and no one melted

I haven't read this whole post so sorry if this is a repeat, but oldnavy.com has some cute Mickey skeleton tees for boys!

I keep changing my mind! I just found this really pretty light-up Blue Fairy costume. Not sure if the quality of the costume is worth the money, but I was wondering if anyone has ever worn a light-up costume before. Pain in the butt? Easily broken?

This is my second party but first time dressing up. My GF and I are going on Sept 14 so heat was a factor. We are going as 1950's girls. We bought the poodle skirts (one red and one teal both with black poodles) and neck scarfs and will just use our own black tops. Here is a picture of the skirt.

Last year dd was:

this year she will be:

It's a natural progression, right? :lmao:
Actually, she has two other costumes though that she will wear more. She has a custom made Aurora/Briar Rose she'll wear on 9/27 so she can have her own natural hair down (no wig!), and then on 9/30 she'll split the night between Rapunzel & Merida. I have to remake her Merida dress with the better fabric I have as well as make the cape and accessories. This was the test dress

This year I'm going as a fairy...just got the most awesome fairy sandals!! :rotfl: Anyway, just going to wear shorts, a pink top, some modified Tinkerbell light up wings (add different color ribbons & sparkles), and have a pretty mask painted around my eyes. I love the face painting, they always do such a great job!!

Our last trip me and DH went to Pirate League, and had a blast!! It's so much fun, from the make up to the Pirate oath. The year before that, I was a witch, and my DH dressed as a Pirate
