Post your ideas for a bridal shower

Hi Girls,

Over in the U.K. we tend to have just a hen night (bacholerette)

Because we are to be married in the sunshine state I will have a bacholerette a few days before the wedding.

I figured that A few weeks before we leave for our wedding trip I should have a bridal shower at home, that way everyone who cannot make the trip can at least get a taste of the american traditions.

Edited to add - NOT GIFT GIVING

So... Obviously coming from the U.K. I don't have a clue what goes on at these showers????

Could you please post some ideas for me? If you have any photos aswell that could explain certain games etc... better, that would be great.

Wedding showers are centered around gift giving and therefore, are not something that the bride would do for herself. Your maid of honor would give a shower in your honor. Showers vary from sedate to rambunctious, and a few could be confused with the bachelorette party.

I think what I would like is to have a shower on the day of the bacholerette party, then all go out at night.

Because we are Scottish we don't have showers so my MOH would not know about this tradition. The only reason I know about it is from these boards. That is the reason that I was thinking of arranging it myself.

I am not wanting to have a shower so as to recieve gifts.

I would like to have a shower for everyone to eat, drink, laugh together and have fun playing some silly games.

So lets re-word my question...

Has anyone got ideas of silly games/traditions for a bridal shower?

If anyone has any photos of ideas - that would be great.

i had a shower and hen night on saturday.

we just had food and played games and gave out party bags in the shower part and then went to see grease and have a meal for the hen night part

We played Disney related games at my shower. It turned out really nice! Something a little different for people to do. We did gifts, but all you would have to let people know was that you just wanted to have a party, instead of a shower.
