Post your centerpieces

SRUAlum,
If you're in the Napa Room, can you see the castle? How about castle centerpieces? I was staying away from "fairytale stuff" since we're going to be in the Living Seas. But in the Napa Room, are you interested in Cinderella or other fairytales? I know people have posted pumpkin coaches and Cinderella themed favors too.

Ok. Speaking of the Dollar Tree, I picked up kids' foam puzzle squares a few months ago. They have Disney princesses and a number on each one, and a castle on the last one. I thought I could adapt them for table numbers, but even back then I knew I probably wouldn't go with a "princess" theme. But for a buck? I couldn't resist! :rotfl:

Ooh! Good idea because the Napa room does have views of the castle. I'll have to start looking around.

I LOVE those puzzles. I teach Kindergarten and got them for all my kids for Christmas last year and had them in our room during the school year. They also have blue ones that have the Pooh characters.

ITGirl...That sounds fantastic!!!

SRU--maybe something along the line of glittery? Not so much glittery but like a glass castle or something--maybe it would catch the sunlight way up there? What are your colors?

Puzzle pieces are a good idea! :thumbsup2 I'm going to use playing cards adapted to be table numbers.

...and what's the Napa room look like?

what color cube did you use? And did you use the solid or the blink ones? I love that idea.. so cute - and so smart.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking too. Maybe something prismatic? I think we're going to do pink and green for our colors. My fav color is pink and his is green and that seems pretty summery. Maybe a more coral color and a more sage color. I don't think the pastels pop enough. However, the Napa room is very navy, dark wood, red, sleek. I hope it doesn't look weird. I guess we'll have to do chair covers and some swagging maybe.

Moonpie: Are you signed up for the Wishbook? If so, go to Reception, click on locations, and click on the second choice in the second column (Contemporary Resort- Napa/Sonoma/California.) Then over on the right side where it comes up after you click, click on 'view' and it will give you pictures. I am just in love with the view :) :)

I'm not sure who you were asking, but that's my concern about the cubes too. I want to make sure they glow and don't just blink.

Me too. I went online and searched a couple different sites, and I think most of them said they have a switch on them where you can set them to stay solid or to blink.

:)

Definitely prismatic--what a great word. I love the coral idea--that is what I wanted but couldn't find a good dress in coral. I think the sage and coral would be a nice contrast to the dark wood colors.

Thanks! I was wondering what the room looked like cuz I live about an hour away from Napa, CA! It's a very beautiful room! :) When I heard the name of the room I thought that maybe it had some kind of wine country theme to it.

PS. Pink and green are great colors together!

I found these battery operated water fountains online and they sell them in bulk so they work out to be around $5 each. I was thinking they would be cheap centerpieces and they would be different. Then we could put flower petals or confetti around them on the table. Do you think it's a good idea or do they look tacky? Has anyone tried using these before? There's another one that I like even more but it has the tea lights and there's nothing enclosing them so we can't use it because of Disney policy

I like them! The only question I have is how big are they? I didn't see any dimensions when I looked at it. My friend has a bigger electric fountain and we put some viney kind of fake plants around it.

The fountains are 4.5 inches high, 5.5 wide and 7 deep. I think that's just talking about the base of it since the tops are all different. They're not too big, but we want to have our reception at Living Seas and I've heard the ceilings are low for the really tall centerpieces. I never thought about putting some sort of vine around them. Thanks for the idea!

SRUAlmn- Yeah that's one I really love, but I read somewhere on the boards that if you have candles that they have to be enclosed in something like a votive cup or something.

I'm glad you guys liked them because it always makes it better to have multiple opinions. Thanks :goodvibes

I am so bummed. I went to Lowe's to get one glass block so I could take a picture of my "idea" for centerpieces and post it, but they didn't have them. I am not sure where I can get ONE glass block. I bet it would be no problem to ask my dad or his friend who works construction, but I don't want to let my parents know we're talking about wedding plans until I get a ring! I think they would question why I need one glass block.

Maybe that's silly, but I want them to know that when I <finally> get the ring, my DBF is really committed. It's been tough because he's in the military reserves (was in the Navy and now is in the Air Nat'l Guard) so in the 2 1/2 years we've been together, he's been away a lot (like right now) and we don't live together so it's not always easy for him to help do things around my house. I think in turn, sometimes my parents think he's not all there on the commitment.

Alright I want to tell someone what he did....

He's also busy finishing his degree, being a volunteer fireman, doing more flight instructor school, and working at the air base! I think in turn, sometimes my parents think he's not all there on the commitment, which is not true. And I especially feel good from the day we spent before he left this time. He'll be back tomorrow and I'm thinking there is a ring in my future soon. but I think he goes away again next week for five days.

We went to dinner on Monday, at my request, and I brought the lighthouse to show him. He liked it so I asked if it was ok with him if I bought enough for the wedding? He was joking and said I probably have DFTW already programmed into my phone and I'm just waiting for the ring -- no surprise, no excitement, just "what took you so long?" I told him no that's not how it will be. He asked for my phone so he could see that it wasn't there.

Well, while he had it and was talking about the people in my phone list, he typed some in himself. He typed "Disney Wedding 1-800-627-7963."
Well i looked at it and said, "that's just a fake number anyway." So he said to call it, but we didn't. He had to tell me to figure out what it spelled. It spells "marry me".

It was so sweet, and would have made a nice engagement story -- our favorite restaurant and the one who caters the firehall where we'll have our home reception with my favorite chicken -- but i don't think he meant it that way because he didnt' have a ring!

but it was so sweet i wanted to share it. i want to design a ring together so we can use my Nana's diamond. so we'll see when he's ready to do that. I think it'll be soon.

I wanted to show you my lighthouses. I picked only the black and white ones. I want to put them on top of a glass block, and put a glowstick inside so light comes out of the windows.

AWWWWWWWWWWW :cloud9: That is sooooo so very sweet. What a romantic!!:) My dh was like that by the end too. I had shown him so many other brides videos and discussed what I liked and disliked. You were nice to ask permission to buy the lighthouses (which by the way I think are SOOO great looking)...I never did that! :cool1:

btw--I wonder if you called a glass block window company and explained what you wanted to do if they wouldn't help you out. Especially if they have a female receptionist--maybe they have a chipped block you could have...or maybe you could even just sneak in there and just do your test photo shoot right in their showroom ;)
