I can't seem to get any less than $354 for June 6-18. This is the price I had back over a month ago and I keep reading how everyone elses rates are dropping almost daily. Not mine!

well, am going Alamo (need to use debit/check card - no credit card in my possession)..........and I just go to alamo.com and plug in the information. just keep checking there or other agencies.
you have any discount codes? (entertainment book, costco, mousesavers.com). The guy at Alamo quoted $245 over phone and I told him, "But I found $217 via internet" and he said to book that! and just cancel the prior quote. And keep checking once a week or every day. you have nothing to loose,...just clicking away at the computer for check see.............

Hi,

I just switched my ressie to National from Budget.

My dates 5/3/04 - 5/10/04 - with 2 extra hours.
Total amount (including taxes and fees) - $168.08
Car type - Compact (just 3 of us)
Codes used - Rate Code/ DWEB; Contract Code 5000304 (Wal-Mart)

I called National today to see how much they hold on your cc and was told that the hold amount is the cost of the rental only. I was surprised because many companies hold additional money. HTH

We only had the amount of the rental held on our credit card by National last week-no extras. No hard sell on extras or insurance. They only had one agent on the desk when we went to get our rental so the wait in line was rather long (about 45 mins) but they brought our car to us 5 mins after that.

Got Full size for 10 days...June 4-14th...with National...

for $234 !!!!

Could have used EA for intermediate and Priceless code and coupon....quoted at $191 incl tax.

But DH wants to be guaranteed a full size.

And when I tried full size with Priceless code, I got an error message....
I assume that you have to reserve intermediate or lower....am I correct??

When my e-mail conf. came through they automatically deducted another 15.00 off for using an online printable coupon available at Vacation Outlet for 15.00 off. I didn't even ask for. I went to their site http://www.nationalcar.com/servlet/DocHandler/directlinks/index_vacation_outlet.jsp

I printed out the coupon and now my new new rate is 140.59

Just got my National EA intermediate down to $191 incl. all fees and taxes for the period 6/21-7/1. Used Priceless Vacations code + $20 entertainment coupon. Will keep trying, though.

Thanks to Mickey_Maniac I was able to save even more. My newest rate for National full size 5/27(6:30pm)-6/1(12:00pm) was 140.59,using Carlson Wagonlit code 5760339. Now using new contract ID 6600330, combined with coupon 10008198, new rate is 126.70

Re-did mine yesterday with National as the first time the website errored and changed to counter pick up. Finally got the rate duplicated (actually saved a couple $$):

August 25-August 30,
National, Emeral Isle
$124.82 with all taxes, fees.

Used the Carlson code and the $20 Entertainment discount. This is about the same rate I paid last summer for one fewer day and a smaller car at Hertz.
