Ok, so I'm pretty psyched about a purchase I made yesterday, and I know how much you guys like getting a good deal on something you can actually USE and enjoy (as opposed to the "junk" deals that end up cluttering up people's lives.)

So I thought it would be fun to have a place where you can brag about your latest finds... One so we can celebrate together and two so that we can remember that anything you can buy for $$$ new, you can probably find for $ second-hand.

I'll go first. We're going on our trip in just a few more weeks, staying off-site for cost reasons (we got a GREAT deal on a condo in Kissimee that's big enough for the grandparents to tag along...) and I wanted to disney-up the place a bit. I really wanted a couple of bright, Disney-themed bedspreads to throw on the twin beds my girls will be sleeping in, but those wouldn't match my house back at home, so it would be a waste to buy the ones they sell for $40....

Wednesdays are 1/2 price day at our local Salvation army. I was able to get a twin-sized Mickey comforter in great condition along with a princesses pillowcase and a Winnie the pooh flat sheet and pillow case for a grand total of... $3.50 !

I'm still hoping to find a second comforter for the second bed, but if that doesn't pan out, I'll give our birthday girl the comforter and throw the pooh sheet on the second bed as a bedspread. On the Mickey bed I'll toss the Sorceror Mickey (with broom) doll I bought at a yardsale last year, and I have a set of Pooh and friends dolls from the same yardsale, both belonged to a former DS CM who was clearing out her collection, and I think I paid about $10 total for the lot... and the characters even match up!

Ok, so impress me, what else is out there? (I need the encouragement to sustain me the next time I'm tempted to just chuck it all and pay full-price...)

I have nothing to impress you with but wanted to say.....great find!! :)

I found a WDW misting fan at the thrift store for $1, which will come in handy in 9 days. We already had two generic Walmart fans, but I love having the WDW for $1.:rotfl:

We are also staying offsite--and I got the Fab 5 wall stickers/clings (is that what they're called?) on clearance at Target for $5. We have a 3 bdrm at Bonnet Creek and I will decorate with the wall stickers before the kids come in. I'm in the "Pay It Forward Bin" for WBC and will leave those in the bin so the next family can decorate if they want also.:thumbsup2

ETA: Not sure if those are "impressive" but I'm psyched about not paying $15 for the fan or paying onsite rates for "disney decor."

My uncle gave me his old "Wind Tamer" Mickey Jacket it is so awesome.

SIL found a Mickey and Friends lenox votive holder at a garage sale for $5 and gave it to me since she knows how much I love Disney. It's actually quite large and I use it as a vase instead of candles.

I think my most recent Disney deals have been 2 sweatshirts. One was a hooded sweatshirt for $3.95 the other a Epcot sweatshirt for $1.95 both were still like brand new inside. Small trading pin bag with the tag on it for $3.95.
Other deals I love a litho print a fun time at a fun park for $3.45 still in the envelope from Disney. Trading pins for as low at $0.95 each on 1/2 price days (checked and they are the real deal).

I am so glad that no Disney fans work there as they seem to always price the stuff low.

I'm jealous, therefore it must be impressive! :) We bought the generic ones at Walmart for $8/ea a few weeks ago, so your $1 is a GREAT deal!

I just picked up an Alice in Wonderland purse (small one) for DD at the thrift shop for $.25 while I was out looking for another comforter, and also got two Disney Trivia games (the ones in the tins that are like Trivial Pursuit) for $3 each... I figure we can leave the boxes behind but bring the cards along for something to do on the train trip down.

I'm proud to say I resisted all the like-new cuddly toys they had (1 tinks, 1 goofy, 1 jiminy, and a ... somebody, I forget who...) for like $1 each... it was hard though... I may cave in and go back for the bigger tink next week, but I'm doing the "cooling off" period first. They also had a really big (like, life-sized almost) Dopey that was in the back room not tagged yet... I solemly swear to resist buying that... though I'm probably lying...

At our local goodwill, about a month ago..I found 4 professionally framed lithographs that I collect. These are from years ago that were limited release at the Disney store. I already had 2 of the four..but one was an Oliver & Co. one which I've wanted forever!! Anybody who knows Disney collectibles knows that the "lesser known/popular" movies are hard to find.

They were WAY overpriced for Goodwill @ $25 each..but 1/2 price I thought wasn't too bad. Now I have 7 of the 10 :hyper:

I found one of those larger snow globes from disney world for $5 at a garage sale. It has mickey and minnie inside building a sandcastle. The outside is water and sand. so cute!

This was kind of funny.

Shortly before our trip to Animal Kingdom Lodge, I came across a Men's AKL tee shirt in DH's size at a second hand store so I bought it (for $2.99).

He wore it when we got there and turns out is was a "Cast Member" tee shirt, so everyone thought he worked there. :lmao: (We had no idea!)

I recently posted this on another thread, but here goes,I was on a thrift shop bus tour and came across a 5x7 wood Mickey frame, never even used, bought for less than half the cost had I gotten it at a gift shop at WDW. The price tag was still on it for about $17 at Disney, they were still selling them in 2011 when I was there last, great find in my book.

I've gotten a ton of Disney stuff at thrift stores!

I got:
-2 unused 1970s Disney World ashtrays for $1- I use them for jewelry
-a Mickey serving tray for $1
-a Mickey canister thing for the bathroom (like for q-tips) for 45 cents
-a giant glass beer mug with german Mickey on it from the germany pavillian for 1.50
-a set of Minnie Ears from the park for 95 cents

II think there is more, but I'm blanking right now. I love finding Disney treasures at thrift stores!!

years ago I found an old disneyland map, like old old at a garage sale/flea market type thing. It was amazing. I don't remember exactly but paid less than $5 for it and got it framed. Its huge and takes up an entire wall but i love it.

Lg stuff Mickey from Disneyland for 3 bucks!
mugs from DW for 1.00 each
shot glasses from dw for 1.00 each
mickey cookie jar for 2.00 'chirstmas ornaments for under 1 each
mister fans for 1 or less
framed poster of DW 25th anniversary for 10.00
Blankets from dw 3 total all under 5 each

PINS a lg ziplock bag for 30 bucks when I counted there was 45 in there all from DW with the mickey backs on them!!!!

Over the years, I've picked up a large stuffed Stitch for .79, a nice heavy WDW canvas tote back for around $2, a pair of Mickey pj pants for $1.50, a disney dish towel for $.10 and a Disney picture frame for $3 that I'd seen at WDW for $20. Oh. And I got a lithograph from the Lion King for .25.

I found an old goofy baseball hat with ears and all, it looks really cool. Found it at a thrift store. We are going soon and my son was excited to find it. Ill try to get a pic on here :)

Now you've got me wanting to make my thrift-store rounds! About a year ago, someone must have gotten rid of a collection of Disney watches at the Goodwill -- I bought a great watch, in the box -- it had the original price tag of $89.95. I bought it for $7 (had a 20% coupon -- Goodwill gives scratch-off discount cards on the 15th of the month). I had to put a new band on it,but it was worth it! Wish I had bought a couple more. I also found a very nice black Disney sweatshirt for $3.

I found kids Minnie rolling luggage. I think it was $3.99. The same bag was still being sold in the parks last time I was there in the Fall.

this isn't second hand but found a mickey tshirt for DS on clearance at Target for 2.50 last week.
