I am currently in the process of getting approved for weight loss surgery (the RnY Gastric Bypass procedure) and have a question on my life at the parks after my recovery. My Doctor said that they issue cards to patients that indicate that they are gastric surgery patients and are not able to eat much food, so therefore should be allowed to order from the children's menu or be charged the children's rate if at a buffet.

Does anyone know if Disney would honor such a card, or if this is something I would need to coordinate through guest services?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, disney will honor that card but if you buy the dining plan you will still have to pay the adult price for it. Anyone can order off the kid's menu. At a buffet, show the server your card to get it for the child's price.

We don't generally do the dining plan because it's just too much food for us. But this is good to know. Thanks!

The person may order from the buffets and menus as an adult but will be charged as a child. They will not have to eat chicken nuggets and mac n cheese, lol.

The problem with the dining plan is that a person who qualifies would get adult meals at kid prices. This could lead to abuse of the system by the party using the bariatric person's kid priced adult meal to get an adult meal for a discount.

One poster splits a breakfast with someone because she eats very little and she shows a before and after picture. She does the same at lunch. Thus saving credits for table service for example. In a large group it is possible to ask for a plate and take a few fries or meat from one person and save credits that way.

Most restaurants in and around WDW will allow meal sharing and will not only supply a plate but also will sometimes split the meal before it is served (except for shows and character meals) without an extra charge for non-buffet settings.
