Post Closing Question???

Deed recorded 04/16/14. Points were added to my account 04/30/14.

I was already a member with that resort and Use Year, so they weren't setting up a new account, just adding to an existing one.

77 days from making the offer to having the points appear in my account on the website.

Last year I also bought a contract from The Timeshare Store. Last year it was 47 days from making the offer to having the points appear in my account on the website.

There weren't any delays on the part of buyer or seller this year that would explain why it took longer. Cash deals both times.

What a big difference in processing time. I wonder if more contracts were for sale or if the delays this time were really due to Disney changing the estoppel process. I really like working with TTS but could not help but to doubt the efficiency of the title company.

Did anyone have their mid April closing points loaded today? We closed April 22 so I have been anxiously watching this thread. I didn't want to call and clog up the lines for those trying to purchase PAP until folks closer to 4/22 closings are seeing their points. Anyone? Thanks!

But it was the same title company last year and this year.

Part of the delay was passing ROFR - it took 21 days last year, 32 days this year.

My deed was recorded on 4/17 and my member account was created yesterday. The points haven't posted to the account yet.

My deed was recorded on 4/15. My member account was created yesterday, and my points were posted around 4 PM today!! Total time was 10 weeks and 2 days. I just made my first reservation.:yay:

I guess it's time to start on the next contract?? :confused3

My deed was recorded a week after yours. Hopefully I'll be saying the sane thing next week.

We are now 10 (actual) days from our deed showing up on the OC site. I am trying to hold off until the two week mark, but I feel like my head is about to explode! I may have to try on Monday.

So, it's official! We closed on the 6th and the deed posted the same day. Then I called today for the first time, and got my member number! That's 13 days that it took. I was trying so hard to resist all weekend, so I can't say whether it may have been there sooner.

Hope this helps someone out there decide when to call. :thumbsup2

Congrats! Did you talk to member services or member accounting? MA would have been closed over the weekend.

And are your points loaded?

Member Accounting, so yes, I wouldn't have gotten through to them on the weekend.

Yes, the points were loaded.

Glad to hear it. Find something for October? I was curious of your final outcome...

We did...but barely.

Nothing at all left in a studio ANYWHERE October 16-20th. I would've been even willing to split the stay, but couldn't find ANY nights open.

Almost nothing left in a 1-bedroom, but DID have availability at SSR in the 1-bedroom. We had just enough points to cover the 4 nights, with 5 points leftover. Guess we'll end up burning those 5, as we can't bank them and they aren't good for much.

I put in a couple of wait-lists just for kicks, but I am very happy with SSR. One thing I want to do over the next 3-5 years is try and check out as many resorts as we can because I may buy more points eventually, and I want to know which resorts we favor - if any. SSR seems a good place to buy points, but would really like to experience it first-hand. (Also, we want to go to Jellyrolls a few nights, and that allows us to take the bus from Boardwalk to DTD and then walk over to SSR.)

Congrats! Glad it worked out. Your new membership strategy is wise. You're really going to enjoy DVC.

Just make sure to keep on top of booking at 8am right at seven months for future non-home reservations, and you will find you can stay everywhere part of the time, and most places almost all of the time. And late bookings, like the one you just had to do with those expiring points, are often available too.

Welcome home...

So, one last adder - I got home today, and my membership # was already in the mail. So, it looks to me like I could've called last week and gotten my member #!

Glad everything worked out for you! Thank you for sharing your experience. My timline is relatively close to yours and I am patiently (:rotfl2:) waiting for my member number (recorded on 5/20). Reading your experienced helped me to know when to start calling!
