Post all SW questions concerns, etc. here...

I've seen a 24 inch checked size bag go through the scanner, I'm pretty sure I've seen a 26 inch go through. Don't think I've ever seen a 28 inch or larger. It doesn't have to go through the scanner, it could be hand inspected if it's too large for the scanner.

I don't think it's ignoring, just that no one here has an answer for you. The only time I flew standby I had a confirmed seat on a later flight and checked my bag for that flight. My checked bag made it on to the earlier flight with me.
You’re right. I don’t know why I bother.
20 years of visits. So many tries at fitting in on this site. I’m done. Deleting my account… AGAIN.
It’s a bit of a bummer as I turn off the bedside light at Boardwalk. Triple split stay and I had thoughts to share, or so I thought

What are you talking about? I thought the same thing as EA when I saw your question. I didn’t have an answer. Would you rather an incorrect answer?

I also haven’t had the experience of flying standby and needing to check a bag, but this is what Southwest says:

“You may be separated from your checked bags. Your baggage may arrive on your original flight rather than your standby flight. Southwest will only be responsible for delivery in the event your baggage doesn't arrive on the original flight it was checked on.”

Source: under the FAQ on this page, if I’m allowed to share the link: https://mobile.southwest.com/airfare-types-benefits/sameday-standby-change/

I’m sorry you feel you don’t fit in, but I honestly think people simply didn’t have the answer to your question.

I actually hate lugging a carry on and I know I am in the minority. I much prefer checking my bag & letting someone else deal with it. I only carry a change of clothes, my meds & enough toiletries for one night and that often fits in my hobo bag under the seat. Only once have I had my luggage go missing.
Really there is no one size fits all solution.

I am right there with you.

I was always shocked with so many people dragging suitcases down the aisle when SW gave two free bags. Yes it takes some extra time once you land but I don't want to have to babysit a bag in the airport plus have to go through TSA screening with it as with my luck they would probably open every single one of my packing cubes.
I am a recent convert to this philosophy. Check bags, no carryons, just a personal item each that fits under the seats. And a car service that meets us at the baggage claim and takes our bags to a waiting vehicle.

Does anyone know when the June 2026 dates will be released?
From the SW site:

We are currently accepting air reservations through June 3, 2026. On October 9, 2025 we will open our schedule for sale through August 3, 2026. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently.

Bummed at the SUB drop this morning. I was going to make a run at companion pass for early next year. Might have to adjust my strategy.

Only nice thing is the low and short spending requirement. Well....except for the Business Performance. 120,000 points for spending $10k in 3 months is a little steep for my budget.

Wow that is even better than the personal card previous bonus. If you get the minimum spend you are guaranteed to get the companion pass!!

120K Bonus Points + 10K CP Points + 10K Spend = 140k CP Points and 130K useable points minimum!

Hi all, we booked Basic fare flights on September 4. We now would like to change the day we fly out and the return time for the day we fly back. Our original flights were 313.94 round trip for both of us, using 200$ in LUV vouchers and the rest in cash. The new flights would be 363.94. It says I can change them if I upgrade to the next fare level which would cost us each 40$ more for each leg, so a total of 80$. What I want to know is wouldn’t it make more sense for us to cancel original flights and then apply that credit towards new ones and just pay the 50$ difference? Or am I completely off here? So confused by the changes🙄 thanks for any suggestions.

When are you flying? If it's before 3/1/26 I think you're ok. And did you pay for any add ons? Those would be lost if you cancel. The biggest issue is the 6 month clock on basic travel funds that starts when you book.

The reason it is more as you are doing an "upgrade" from basic to choice.

That "upgrade" gets you 4x more points, makes flight credits for refunds or cancellations valid for 12 months instead of 6 and you can also transfer them to someone else. If you are flying after 1/26/26 it will also allow to select a seat at booking as opposed to be assigned a seat at check-in.

As @EACarlson mentioned you would lose add-ons if you cancelled.

If you didn't book any add-ons and don't care about what the "upgrade" provides I think it would be safe to cancel and rebook the new flight.
Your credit is only good 6 months from 9/4 but since you are rebooking right away it shouldn't be a problem.

Is your flight within 6 months of the date you booked? With flight credits, your travel must be completed within that 6 month restriction. If your flight is more than 6 months out, you won’t be able to cancel & apply that credit to your flight.

Actually, it would be a problem if the flight is more than 6 months from the booking date of 9/4.
Thank you!! I was aware that the credit expired 6 months after it was originally booked but didn't realize that travel had to be completed by that time.

In this case, @nvr2old your flight is more than 6 months out. Your 6 month date would have been 3/4/2006 and you are travelling are 3/13/26.

In this case what you could do is pay the difference and do the upgrade however I would upgrade not to choice but to "Choice Preferred" or "Choice Extra" since these are fully refundable and "Choice" would just net you a larger credit.
You would then cancel the flight and when you do make sure you select "Refund to method of payment" to get what you just paid to upgrade to "Choice Preferred" or "Choice Extra" back on your credit card.
The rest of the credit will be issued as a flight credit and because it is a choice fare or higher the credit would be good for 12 months from when you cancel.
Take that credit and book the basic flights again and you will have a small credit to use up over the next 12 months.
