Post all SW questions concerns, etc. here...

I’m really only seeing we would be able to change on basic for 6
Months and 12 for the other. I must be missing something.
If she changes to WGA plus and another price drop comes that credit would be good for 12 months as opposed to the basic fair which is six months

As far as I've been seeing on here, the flight credits are good for 6/12 months from the date the flight was originally booked. So say you booked a flight on June 1 for a flight in October. You checked the fares today, and the flight is now cheaper by $50/ticket. For a Basic fare, that $50 credit will be good until Dec 1. 6 months from the date of booking, not Jan 12, which would be 6 months from today. WGA+ and above credits would be good until June 1 (May 31?) 2026

Yes that is correct. The expiration date is based on ticket purchase date. That is why I would book WGA+ at a minimum cash points don’t matter as much.

What are you doing if you chose between basic and wanna get away plus.
We are flying around holidays.
We don’t ever to do the pre- board or change flights same day.
We do change times - days often and I’ve got ticket funds back or paid another difference.

With this group we are always looking to save some money/get a good deal.
Now that the credits have an expiration date that is tied to when you bought your ticket you really have to be paying attention.

The next schedule release is on 7/29/25 and is good for tickets up to 3/4/26
Suppose I buy a basic ticket on release day for the last day in the schedule.
There is a huge sale that happens during Valentine’s Day. I cancel my ticket to get the credit and rebook it but I don’t have any credit as it has been more than 6 months since I purchased the ticket.

Now if I had a wanna get away plus ticket I would still have time left on the credit.

As we get into assigned seating, that would also be a consideration between basic and WGA+. Basic is not going to have a seat assignment unless you pay for it while WGA+ is going to have a free seat assignment in the back of the plane. Since you can't change a basic flight, you would need to cancel and rebook, which would lose your seat assignment and have to pay again, same as you would for EBCI now.

Our SWA cards comp us 2 EBCIs per year. I wonder if they will also comp a couple of seat assignments?

Chart is already out:

Given that you get two EBCI, you must be Plus or Premier, right? So, for basic, you can't choose until 48 hours before the flight, but you can move to what's left available at that time. Potentially to a preferred seat, if you're on the mid card.

There is no way to "unknowingly" book an exit row seat on other airlines. I would expect SW to be the same when it goes to assigned seating.
What happens if there is a change of equipment? Will SW move exit row pax to exit row? It should. I wouldn't be shocked if IT drops the ball.

I thought WGA+ was eligible for "preferred seating near the front. Guess I'd better read it again.

Maybe we'll just be so lucky and Southwest will use the same IT as Disney:sad:

No, that would be basically what is now Anytime Fare but will be called Choice Preferred

Honestly I'm not quite certain how they will handle if as in will they prohibit someone with a Choice (presently WGA+) to pay for a seat in the Preferred or Extra Legroom or if they will be like other airlines that make you only able to select a seat in the specified section.

While we're on the topic of assigned seating I noticed they have put this up though I'm not certain how long it's been up

"Starting the third quarter 2025; for flights starting the first quarter 2026." I know previous information had just said "second half of 2025" so I think we should be getting very close to knowing more information. It's possible just based on that the next release of presently 7/29/25 with dates up to 3/4/26 could be it or they could wait until the next release after that.

It'll be interesting to see, because I'm one who's going to be booking on 7/29 for a flight home from WDW. I already booked my flight down-decided to get there a day early, just to avoid the possibility of flying on the first day of assigned seating. Thanks for letting me know that would have to be Choice Preferred.
At least one advantage of getting there a day early was that one of the few rooms still available was a Lake view at Grand Floridian Villas-so I get to see EWP again!
