United's lowest card, the Explorer is one free bag, to get 2 free bags you have to go up to the Quest with a $350 annual fee. Delta's cards are one free bag, American's cards are one free bag. United is the outlier in that either of the top two cards offer two free bags.

We fly United a lot and always get two free bags with the Explorer card.

Do you have status that a free bag would stack? Otherwise the T&Cs are clear it's one free bag. Or are you travelling with someone else and it's one free bag each?

As of last summer we got one free bag for myself, the cardholder, and my companion, my husband. That could’ve all changed by now since it seems like the airlines are making up rules by the minute lately.

That makes sense and exactly as it works with every major airline. What it came across as in your pp was that you each got two free bags with that card. With the Delta cards it's the cardholder and up to 8 on the same reservation, I think AA is cardholder plus up to three on the same reservation.

I’m looking forward to being able to fly SWA once the seat tiers are in place but before they actually start charging for the extra leg room since changing over all the planes will be an ongoing process.

That's normal if you're talking about a credit card. We've had a Delta Amex Skymiles (Gold IIRC) since 2013 and it's been 1 free bag per passenger up to 8 or 9 passengers on the reservation.

With airlines responding to SWA's crazy adjustments lately it's hard to keep track what airline is doing what to entice people to fly with them instead
