Post all SW questions concerns, etc. here...

Is anyone else having trouble changing or canceling reservations that have a minor on it? Every time I try to modify my flights to get the price difference, it won’t let me select my four years old. Just my hubs and me can be selected. So I tried to just cancel my reservation and rebook…that did not work either. I couldn’t select my four year old to cancel but the adults could be. I ended calling and the SW employee was able to make the change. When asked if it was normal to have this issue, she claimed it was a new thing that SW put in place. I’m not sure if I really believe her.

I remember seeing that recently when I was checking flight prices for my family. A banner at the top of the change screen says not everyone can be changed online, right?

I had to call anyway because my flights were trying to give me the "free" change when the points had gone down, so it was a moot point.

Yes! It's such a pain to have to call/chat every time the price drops. I had this for our last trip too but I just thought it was a fluke.

I see that SW is releasing the next block of tickets on Wed Oct 30 through August 4 2025.

What time does the release happen, and if you know this, can you also include the time zone?

Thanks much!

Thank you…this is a very helpful list!

You’re welcome & thanks to @LadybugsMum. Also, I found my post from the last release in September, it was live for me at 7:02, someone else had it live at 7:00. That isn’t unusual as different cities seem to get released separately, but all cities are released within minutes.

The new schedule is live (went live about 7:15). Disappointed in our PVD-MCO July flight options. Significantly more than JetBlue. I held off booking.

Was looking at flights (non Disney trip), and the prices were just about the same as United (same to Denver cheaper coming home by $10). I miss when Southwest was usually always cheapest.

United I’m guaranteed a seat, but southwest I don’t have to pay for luggage. I can make do with a carryon for the three of us and maybe one checked bag. Will be cheaper than adding early bird for all three and still not guaranteed to sit together (although likely).

Can’t wait until Southwest lets you pick your seat. I would rather pay for luggage and know where I’m going to sit. Even for a few extra dollars.

Same here, only two non-stop flights on the dates we want and more expensive.

Do I buy now or take the chance that prices will go down in a few hours to days? This is not for flights to/from MCO, but to somewhere else in the NE.

Is it a price you're willing to pay? If the price goes down you can get a non expiring credit for future use. I never book unless it's a price I'm willing to pay, then I'm happy if it comes down and I get credits.

I booked MEM-SEA this morning for our June Alaskan cruise. Prices were extremely higher than I thought they'd be. $706 each RT for Anytime. Of course I will be price checking every single day from now until June for a decrease so we can get some money back. I also have a trip booked to WDW in July in hopes to go to DVC Moonlight Magic at Epcot, but I held off on those tickets for now since they were outrageous also.

Did you look at JetBlue out of PVD? Getting to MCO is actually pretty reasonable for my dates; just getting home is higher than I would like. I was hoping to book one way on JB and one way on SW using points but still too high for me. I'll wait it out a bit.

We did look at Jetblue, i like the flight times on SW but may need to compromise.
We have done that in the past one way on Jetblue or Breeze and the other on SW.
Good luck!

I don't know where SW has re-deployed all their planes to, but they have eliminated so many flights to/from MCO over the last decade...particularly from northeast airports.

There has been a lot of scrutiny of their financials lately. Many of the criticisms centered around the lack of changes to their policies (such as open seating - which I actually prefer) and other aspects of their business. I think their problems stem from the baffling changes - to routes and schedules- they did make.

Somewhere I saw Southwest was pulling out measuring tape at MCO for bags and if over 62 inches charging the extra $150 when checking them. Has anyone else seen this? My concern is my bag is right at 62 when including wheels and handle on top but if someone measures poorly or differently could get slapped with that fee. I kind of need that bigger suitcase which I rarely use for a Christmas trip because bringing a small tree and some lights along with warmer clothing. If I had another smaller suitcase I would just bring 2 but it is easier to bring my 28 inch one. I have taken on other trips without issue. Just want to see what others have experienced recently if anything

I've never personally seen or even heard reports of any of the major airlines measuring bags unless they were obviously way oversize. Please share your source and we can all take a look and judge for ourselves. One thing that may be worthwhile and I've done this when I'm close to overweight. Walk outside the doors and tip the skycap a couple bucks. Guarantee that bag isn't going to see the scale or a measuring tape.

I discovered the option of skycaps a couple of years back, boy does it make things easier! (Though ours at BDL does weigh the bags!)
