We thought it'd be good to have a separate threat for any info anyone might find re: the Panama Canal West/East Coast cruises.

I've got nothing to post, 'cept...I'm waiting anxiously for DCL to finally put the same info that DU (yeah DU) put up Saturday, with the addition of times, so that I can begin planning accordingly. We've kids in our party and some are too young for many of the excursions, yet we have many adults...so this is going to take some heavy planning.

I look forward to talking ports of call!

Does anyone have any idea what excursions are open to children under 3? We have a 1-year-old and we'd like to do some of the beach excursions and maybe other laid-back stuff like the semi-submersible boat that seem doable with small kids.

Also, though not technically excursion-related, I am trying to compile a list of things to do close to each of the ports of call on the trip, hopefully with maps, directions, etc., for those wanting to just go into town for a few hours on their own without an expensive excursion. Please post in this thread any experience at these ports or links to more info. As people post info in this thread I will update this post with a summary. Here goes:

Curacao:
Terminal info:
Curacao has two main docking spots: the new Curacao Mega Pier, located in West Willemstad, just a few minutes walk into downtown. Smaller ships dock at the Curacao Cruise Terminal, which is within walking distance to the Queen Emma Bridge, which connects it to the city's main shopping and business areas. [[If anyone knows where we will be docking let me know and I will update this.]]

Acapulco:
Terminal info:
Not too much is located at Acapulco's cruise terminal. Acapulco's old city is a ten minute walk from the cruise terminal.

Mazatlan:
Terminal info:
Located in Mazatlan's commercial cargo port. Passengers are shuttled (it's free) from the ship to the port area which is quite festive with tourist shops, a bar, and tables set up under shade trees.

Cabo San Lucas:
Terminal info:
Ships tender passengers in to the marina, which has a pleasant ten minute waterfront walkway that leads to Cabo San Lucas.

Mochabean, the semi-submersible is all ages, as are most of the beach excursions.

The only thing that becomes a concern is the transportation. For most of these a seat is needed on the shuttle that's used. When you inquire about it,
be sure to mention that you have a child under age 3. :)

Thanks for the info!

Disney will be mailing an excursion booklet out on Jan 28th -- I'm assuming to all repo cruises, but at the very least they'll go out to the May repo cruisers -- my guess is the booklet will include the particulars (times, etc.) -- I'd like to see the info on their website, but not holding my breath here ;)

The beach getaways are very interesting to m. One of the excursions at Cabo is at the Finisterra Resort. The brochure states that you can't go swimming in the ocean but when I looked up the resort on the internet it looks like it sits practically on the beach. I wonder if you can at least wade in the water?

Do you know something we don't know????? I was looking over the Cabo excursions and trying to decide between the THREE different snorkel excursions available! With that many snorkelling options, there must be SOMETHING to see :earboy2:

Rick, the picture you have in your signature and on your website is very cool! Have you done this cruise before? When were the other time(s) that Disney took its ship(s) through the Canal?

Ain't photoshop wonderful. That picture is not of a "real" event. :sad2:

Just giving you a heads up that the prices for the Puerto Vallarta excursions are now added and the meeting times for all of the excursions have been added as well.

Happy Planning!!!

I wonder if they'll add some evening excursion for Acapulco for the Eastbounders. I can't imagine they won't have an evening Cliffdiver show.

It's not on the list, but with everything that Disney does it's "always subject to change." :smooth:

Okay all...ALL the times are up now on DU's DCL site for all Panama excursions. Weeeee! Plan away.

I too wonder if we'll have extra offerings for evening excursions in Acapulco. We've got SO much time there, it'd be a shame not to take advantage of it.

I'd also love to know what is close to the port that we can walk to (eg shopping, museums)

Yes, as jrabbit mentioned, the picture is fabricated.
Simply add together a copy of Photoshop, a couple hours searching the web for possible pictures to combine, a small amount of natural ability, a bucketload of patience, a wife who has a considerable amount of Photoshop experience, a few more hours of tweaking, and you too could have a picture of something that never happened. :)

Gosh, I thought it took a lot more work than that and was hard to do!
