Possible to book a stay only 6 weeks out???

I've been to WDW before and I'm usually a super-planner. Thinking about a spontaneous trip mid-August for a long weekend- 4 nights.
Would I be able to get park reservations, is there anything I might miss out on with short notice? We mainly want to do the new rides-tron/guardians. I haven't looked into how those work yet. (Not looking to do any specific dining reservations or character meals)

You should be just fine. There still looks to be plenty of resort and theme park availability and even discounts. Dining reservations have probably already opened up but they're still pretty abundant as long as you're not trying to get the Space 220 Lounge.

You'll be fine. We just a few days ago booked a trip for mid-July and we were able to get park reservations everywhere we wanted. And the resort we wanted.

Most of my trips are within 2 months, and I often make changes to plans the day or two before. You’ll be fine!

I booked my last trip less than month out. Granted it's just me and it was only for a couple of days, but I do it often. If it's a busier time of year or you want some of the hard-to-get restaurants it might be more of an issue.

I agree - doing a mid-Aug trip should work. You should be able to get most of what you want. It's (possibly) a bit lighter with crowds that time of year - not like you're trying to do late planning for Christmas week! Go for it! Enjoy the weekend!

You'll be fine. Heck we booked a trip in late January for February right before President's Day Weekend. We were limited where we could stay but we got a room and theme park reservations.

We booked in April for May. We had no problem getting great ADRs. Space 220 was the only one that never showed. Tons came available for everything else the closer it got. We even got a private fireworks cruise.

This was the third time we booked last minute and we've had great luck. I'm a type A planner, but actually had more fun on these!

Do it! You’re not missing out on anything, VQ and ILL are morning-of for Tron and GotG. And even dining I’ve frequently been able to secure day before or day-of. Have fun!

Look for good last minute deals on DVC reservations! Even on the DVC rental board here there are people with good deals whose points expire soon. Have fun!
