I'm not new to the Disboards, but I am on here ingocnito today because I have a personal question.
It's possible that I could be pregnant, but I'm going to DW in 7 days!!! I would know day 4 into the trip if I am or not.
I don't know what to do...
Should I go on rides??? Should I not, I may not even be?
I've been waiting for this trip forever!!!!! I need advice!

I would take a test on the first morning; a positive result may turn up early. Until I knew for sure I would avoid the rides that advise against riding when pregnant, but that is just me (I am sure there are lots of women who unknowingly went on those rides before they found out they were pregnant) :sunny:

I would just put a call in to your dr and see what they think
most people wouldnt even know they are pregnant at that time but better safe than sorry

I would suggest talking to your doctor, if it is really important to you to know they can do a blood test, before a urine test can detect. You may ask about the concerns of rididng "big" rides in early pregnancy. I would also suggest making a decision based on how you would feel. If something happened with your pregnancy, that would most likely be unrelated, if you would feel guilty or like your activity somehow contributed, then I would stay off rides. I do not mean this as a downer, just as a way to think about it. I really think your trip would have very little effect on pregnancy other than alcohol. Best of luck to you and enjoy your trip.

I don't even do the BIG rides... The biggest one I do is Big Thunder Mtn. Dinosaur, I don't even do Space Mtn.
I would feel guilty if something happened, but I don't even know if I am, and I'm going to be basing it on the thought and I just hope I don't ruin the trip for myself with worrying.

I would hold out on the rides and take a test with you and on day 4 take the test..What better news than to find out you are pregnant at Disney World??? That would be AWESOME!!!! Or at least to me it would be and I have had my tubes tied.. :teeth:

When I was barely pregnant with my daughter- not even suspecting it, I drank so many margaritas at Jelly Rolls for our anniversary/MNSSHP at disney I'm surprised she wasn't born drunk! Not that I advise that. I would definitely talk to your doc. although I worked in obstetrics for about 3 years and know what the Dr's I worked for would say. No rides until you know for sure. I have a girlfriend who teases about her sons first trip to Bush Gardens being in utero.
I hope either way that you are happy with your ourcome.
good luck!

I found out I was pg with my dd at Disneyland because I (nearly) threw up after riding Space Mountain. I never get nauseous on rides, so my dh said, "time to test!" After that, I avoided any of the rides that said they should be avoided by pregnant women. Had I known before, I would have avoided them altogether. But then I have a friend who went when she was about 5 months along, and she rode everything. She said she wasn't about to let being pg "ruin" her vacation! To each their own.

I agree with ZipaDeeDooDah--I think they even make a test now that's supposed to be able to detect pg several days before you're "late." Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

I have yet to ride Mission Space because the first trip I thought I was preggo (turns out I wasnt), and the second trip I was! It took us a year for #2 and I was so cautious. Personally, I would avoid any rough rides until I knew for sure. The early stages are when the little one is attaching to the wall, and the important stuff is developing.

IMO I do not think being a few days pregnant it would matter what rides you are going on. You realise you are talking about something a few cells big! Woman athletes and those who work strenous jobs continue until far into pregnancy. Only recently have woman been able to even know they were pregnant this early. To be blunt if going on a roller coaster this early caused a miscarriage the pregnancy probably didn't have much of a chance to last 9 months. Ask your Dr. to be sure but I wouldn't be worried.

THe only one I'd say to miss is Dinosaur.

If you're that early pregnant - it would be OK to do most things. Tiredness and sickness are your main worries at that stage, and most people wouldn't realise they were pregnant at that point anyway.

I had positives show up 3-4 days early

I wouldnt risk it.You have the highest risk of having a misscarriage at the beginning of the pregnacy.

Thank you ALL for your advice! It's just funny to me that I put off having kids for the purpose of one last hoorah at Disney World, only to be freaked out that I may be pregnant a week before I go!!!!
I'm going to take a test with me, so I can test during the trip.
I'll let everyone know how it went and I will possibly reveal my real Disboards screen name after the fact, DreamAngels is just one I made up today for the sake of asking this question!

definately hold off on the rides ::yes:: but i would take one of the tests that comes with at least 2 sticks, so that you can test the day you arrive (i've had it show up positive about 5 days early!!) and if it's negative, try again on the 4th day of your trip :) have fun!

Hope you have a great trip! :flower3:

I leave this Sunday and I had a thought I was pregnant (keep in mind I have a 9 month old) so this was NOT planned...though of course I would have felt blessed I understand how your feeling. I took 4 tests over the course of a week...they have tests that are made for early detection up to 5 days early. SO if your curious it couldn't hurt to check to give you piece of mind to party and ride or to hang back and nurture the new bean! :thumbsup2 OH my test was negative all 4 times as a side note.

Iv'e always been 'irregular', so lately I've been charting my temperature jjust because to see if I'm somewhat working and low and behold the day after :rolleyes1 , my temp rose up alot so that's what's getting me freaked out!
It was the optimal time ahhhh!

I guess this will give me an excuse to constantly eat in World Showcase :) nerves stress and possibilities!

Most of the rides are overly cautious about pregnant people riding. Talk to your doctor and use your best judment. There was a small chance that I was pregnant my last trip and I avoided alcohol but rode all the rides.

If it were me, I would Splash Mountain, but would skip the other Mountains and Dinosaur, Test Track, and other "restriction" rides. And the blood test can detect very, very early. If your doc is up for it, you might go ahead and just get it done before you go!
