Possible New WDW Roads

I wonder if some of these roads could be just for construction traffic to use? Especially going through wetlands and they would still have to have permits etc. to even put in temporary roads. They would even have to put in gravel road beds to support the construction traffic.

This is a possibility.

Drove along Reems Rd a couple of hours ago and it looks to me like they are building a road from the location the former Cast Connection building running down towards where some of this test drilling will occur.

I can see that happening. It would avoid going thru most of the backstage area. You will see some of it from Reams Rd but that's different than passing 20 feet away from the monorail barn.

This would also keep that road open during the nightly fireworks as the launch site is right off the road there at the rear of the Magic Kingdom. Currently Floridian Way is closed for the nightly fireworks for a period of time.

Yes, permits were filed last year to expand the cast parking lot back there and also do some work on the road next to the parking lot. This will eventually become the first part of the Floridian Way expansion. Here is were that work is happening...

Replying to my own post here; drove along Reems Rd yesterday and there is definitely a road being built there.

There has been a rumor that a new northern entrance would be coming from that direction.

Not really a road, just a new entrance to the parking area back there. Here is an image of the that area from a few weeks ago. Eventually they plan to extend that all the way to Floridian Way, but so far they have only filed the exploratory permits mentioned earlier in the this thread.

An interesting permit was filed with the South Florida Water Management District today. This permit was to allow for borings to be performed to asses the conditions for possible new roads. The first one would connect Flamingo Crossing to CR 545

The third, and probably most interesting, is a long speculated new entrance road to DHS.

the third one was half truth to it I have a good felling that the cast lot is being moved to make room for the park expansion.

Intersting changes. I say interesting because that's the way I travel when heading from my house to/through WDW. The light on Reems will be welcome during the busy times.

I wonder how close to a real thing the rumored "north entrance" really is?

I get they want to get access from roadways farther north and cut the turnpike off closer without going near YOU KNOW WHO....

but with OIA on the opposite side of the property I don't honesty get it.

It's not a great flow...not awful up there either. There's no room for 30 mil in the park...that can't be it.

It's confusing in many ways.

I'm doubting it too. Other than the folks who live in the general area, there really aren't that many people trying to get into the parks from Reems. Those coming from further north are more likely to have come down the turnpike to 429 and then in Western Way.

Don't see that...I think it's unlikely they'll touch magic kingdom for along time

Looks like it's just a realignment of Center Drive, and calling it Floridian Place for now. They are not moving/extending Floridian Way at all.

The small red part at the top that ties to Reams road has already been done, and the permits for it show part of the blue line and refer to it as the "Future Floridian Way Extension". It is possible that they are going to remove the existing Floridian Way which would open up some expansion possibilities for Magic Kingdom although I don't think there are any immediate plans for that.

5 years away is the 50th so who knows. Last year Lasseter was spotted in tomorrowland with blue prints. I'll keep dreaming as no matter what else they do, magic kingdom is just going to get more and more crowded as it's the iconic castle park so if you come for pandora or star wars, your still getting to MK if your time is limited. It also looks to be 1 or 2 land sized.. I'm excited even if they aren't saying what's up yet..
