My family and I just returned from a vacation at the polynesian and went to the tour at SSR. We had not been at WDW for over 15 years and had no idea they had a vacation club. We were offered one years fo points and $8 off the $98 per point price. I noticed that referrals receive 15% off. Since we already went to the tour, are ineligible for a referral price if we can find someone to refer us? Since we didn't know about the club we've never asked anyone and therefore don't know if any friends are a part of it. ::MickeyMo

Are you talking about an extra year of points? In other words, if you buy a 200 point contract, you get 400 the first year? If so, that about evens out, IMO, to the same value as an extra $7 off per point. Assuming you can actualy make the time to use those extra points during your first year.

Since you've already done the tour, I don't know if they'll let you do the referral discount, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

yes, I would get double the points for the first year only. I am not sure though, how that evens out since those extra points don't benefit succeeding years as the ones I am paying for, which is probably because I am new to this point concept.

We didn't do the tour but were in the system and they still let us use a referral .

I would be looking for a referral in order to get a 15% discount if anyone is open to it. We plan to buy 220 points at SSR and will contact the guide tomorrow, 12/20. We live in Ohio if that matters to anyone. Just PM me.

I sent you 1 if you need anything else let me know

thanks

I think you really need to pin your guide down on the 2005 points and cost. Sometimes that $8 discount is without the '05 points. If you get the '05 points, they usually charge you a little more for them -- like $3 per point.

Also, you may be able to get both the 15% and the 2005 points. Or the 15% and '05 points for $3 (which would still be $86.30 or thereabouts).

While it's true the '05 points are a one time occurrance, don't underestimate the value of them. Depending on your use year and personal preference, you could rent them out do defray part of your purchase price.

Or, you could bank them and start off with a nice cushion in your account. Although you don't get extra points every year, in a way you do, because you use banked points first, which increases the number of current year points you have available to bank into next year. That process continues until you've used up the entire stash of banked points, but that might be several years.

Thanks to all who offered a referral. I worked out the referral arrangements with my guide this morning and got the 15% discount and the first year point match.
