Possible MS changes to changing names on reservations

I'll leave a VM for my guide for the morning. He usually calls me right back when he gets in since the only time I ever call him is to add on points. :lmao:

We'll see what the guides' take is on this (although it may be a brand new, completely different response...as a matter of fact, I expect it to be). ;)

Making it so you cannot change ANY names seems like overkill to me. :confused3

you'll disappoint him so:rotfl2: look forward to hearing your guide's take

def. don't think they're going to prohibit the addition & substitution of ancillary guest's names on existing ressies...

i keep trying to clarify here:teacher:

I was told we couldn't delete our names (self & DH) off the orginal ressie & sub my adult DS in our stead.

was told it'd be cancelled

a moot point for me now, since DS is a victim of recent downsizing:mad:

My guide called Member Services and asked them. Gee thanks, I could have done that myself. She said that there was no problem with changing names on regular DVC reservations. Other types of reservations, such as DCL reservations, do have restrictions.

Hmmm ... I wonder if keishashadow's CM thought that she wanted to change a name on a DCL reservation.

Keishashadow- Sorry to hear about DS' downsizing. :guilty: I hope everything works out for him.

Well, I spoke to my guide. He said he has heard nothing about this, but he will look into a little.

As far as changing names with the commercial renting angle, he did say it was a concern for DVC. But that it was looked at case by case before they speak to a member about it.

So basically, if I was to turn over a reservation to a family member or friend, they may look at my account to see what my patterns were. Since I rarely book rooms for anyone unless we are also in WDW, there is no "pattern" that would raise a red flag for them. Same with someone who has booked a room for their sister or child several years in a row, at the same time they were in WDW, then booked a room for just that person. That is most likely a family member or close friend, KWIM?

Also, he did say they will contact the member regarding the reservation, not just cancel it.

I think the speculative renting is what is really giving them headaches and what they are primarily focusing on. Prime weeks booked at 11 months, then rented and changed out, year after year by the same members.

So basically he had not heard anything, but I really feel better about the whole thing after speaking to him.

He had no insight as to why you were told that, keishashadow. The only thing he could think of was that the rep misunderstood you somehow and then passed that misunderstanding on when she checked for you. :confused3

Oh, and I did get put on the Contemporary list....so I did not disappoint. He knows we'll be ponying up the cash if and when it is announced. :) One thing he did mention was that members will have first chance at it when it comes out. He did not say first chance IF. :lmao: Can ya tell we really want some CRV points? ;) But honestly, I didn't get that vague "oh we dont know anything" vibe this time.

thanks for posting!

I shall sleep easy;) ; sorta...

perhaps when the CM heard DCL she got mixed up?:confused3 know it couldn't be commercial renting since i've only had 1 ressie in another persons (DSs name thus far).

I talked to my guide in November after reading the posts as to "being on the CRV list".

To paraphrase him - since it has not been determined or announced as to the purpose of the CRV, I do not have a call list for sales; formally or informally plausible deniability

i better get in:rolleyes1 from what i hear from the other guides that I stop & chat to; he's a big fish...and difficult to reach; seems to be living on the DCL:laughing:

Seven pages of posts for an unconfirmed rumor... :confused3

Of course it was unconfirmed....
which is why it was posted for confirmation:confused:

while i'm being optimistic i do know what i was told; it didn't seem to be what I had heard here before, which is why i commented...so very sorry if this thread is a waste of time for you:rolleyes:

however, unless i see said stated in writing...ala the POS changes I'll just keep my head in the sand & ignore thinking about it;) singing zip-a-dee-doo-dah all the way:wizard:

i'm small potatoes, in DVC's eyes - it's the commercial/big owners that need to be concerned with this type of enforcement...not necessarily a bad thing; unless members aren't given written notice of intent

Seven pages of posts for an unconfirmed rumor... :confused3
Hey! We both posted to it! :rotfl2:

Which part surprises you -- the seven pages part...or the unconfirmed part...or the rumor part? Those things all seem to go together to me!

If it were a simple factual statement, it never would have made two pages!

Zippity-doo-da-day!

Just got a call from DVC Member Satisfaction (sorry, can't remember her name) regarding my e-mail. She said they are putting in a new software system and they have not been given all the details yet so she cannot officially confirm or deny this rumor. But she said it is very doubtful this would happen. She works the phones and gets calls all day with people adding and deleting names and can't imagine this happening. It would be alot of work to cancel reservations and rebook them everytime. I told her it would definitely be a dealbreaker for me and I wanted to let them know how I felt about it. She said all members comments are kept on file and not to hesitate to let them know when I am concerned about something.

So hopefully this was just a rumor gone out of control.

debbie thanks for posting, makes sense to me as to more paperwork for them in the long run (as long as it's not a commercial renter pattern).

didn't know about the new software system; hope it will help them function more effeciently as to ressies, transfers, etc.

also didn't know that they keep our comments on file:thumbsup2 , might have to start to vocalize more:)
