Possible HS band trip @ Thanksgiving-do we plan now?

Our 2 DSs are in the HS band and there has been many discussions about taking the band to perform in WDW this Thanksgiving. Although it is not 100% certain, there is a very high possibility they will go. DH and I would like to go down to watch them, go to the parks, but let DSs stay with the band.

My question is, do you think I should make resort reservations now if this is not 100% certain? I know getting plane tickets are out since they are not refundable. How quickly will the resorts fill up? We are DVC members, but points will be high this time of year, especially over the weekend, so we would pay cash for a moderate. I did check out air fares for the heck of it and they are quite pricy. Do Thanksgiving fares ever drop?

Also, has anyone ever met their children at WDW when they traveled with their HS band? What were your experiences?

Here is my experience - my daughter performed on NYE a few years ago - we did the same as your plan - we had her travel with the band and we went separately. I made my reservation as soon as I knew it was a possibility - you can always cancel and you don't want to be shut out of staying where you want.

We had a copy of her itinerary and we basically went to the same parks they were going to for at least part of the day...we met up a couple of times but just briefly and we attended all of her perfomances. It was a great trip!
