Possible Closing of Alien Encounter

What wonderful news! I LOVE Stitch, and now there will possibly be another attraction in Tomorrowland that the whole family can enjoy together!:)

I hope so. I get scared every time we do AE and how scary can cute little Stitch be.

So they wreck another one. I like AE and once they start to tamper with it... well everyone remembers what happened to Journey into Imagination, World of Motion, Horizons... Need I say more.

My DD has never seen AE and I doubt if I can talk her into being brave enough to see it before it goes...but I wonder, does it have a chicken exit so she can at least see the pre-show?

I'm all for a Stitch conversion of AE. Anything would be better than what's there now.

wow, if they could re-do AE as well as they have reimagineered world of motion and horizons we would be in for an amazing treat - I don't think they could do it as well though. The truth is, as lame as I thin AE is and as much as I would like to see it go, and as much as I'd like Stitch around, it is still a viable sort of attraction in that SOME people still go there - I wish they would just make something stitch in the circlevision theater, maybe something a cooler version than simply a circlevision movie. Then they would 1. put something in there since that isn't being opened much, and 2. have something they put in disneyland as well, because disneyland tomorrowland needs all the help it can get. If they could make something with seats in there people would really like it, it is the standing that people complain about. Anyway, I'd rather have AE plus a new stitch attraction in the circlevision, than stitch in AE and nothing in time keeper. You know?

Alright! Teenagers and Young Adults get the shaft again at the MK. Maybe Splash Mountain can be converted so the drops can be taken out pretty soon. I never thought I'd like MGM and Epcot more than the Magic Kingdom but as soon as AE closes it doors for good that will be the case. So much for having attractions for every group of the family at the MK.

I've never seen the Stitch movie. Never had any desire to. So I don't think I will like it if they switch AE over to SE (Stitch Encounter).

We alway go on AE during every visit. Sometimes twice because we usually do MK twice. It's always busy or seems to be. So I suppose that means it's popular.

Next thing you know they will be wanting to change SSE.

Oy.

That's a surprize. Every time I was by there I saw a long line so it must be popular.

We went on the first year it opened and that was enough, though. With my wife on one side and a woman I didn't even know on the other, I came out with deep fingernail imprints on both wrists. It seemd a long-sleeve shirt would be in order if I ever went on again.

I suppose AE was an improvement over Mission to Mars, which seemed a bit lame by the 1980s and 1990s. One of the problems with Tomorrowland is trying to stay ahead of technology. Anything new will be outdated in a year or two.

Too bad they couldn't postpone this until Nov. I was hoping to enjoy the "encounter" with a few unsuspecting family members this trip.

Stitch will really diminish the effect.

To me, once you ride AE, the surprise is gone. I would hope that a new SE will be Great.

As far as not seeing Lilo and Stitch, it is your loss. The animation may not be on par with Treasure Planet, but it has some really good family messages.

I recommend renting it, you won't need a theater screen to appreciate it, but both times DW and I saw it in the theater she cried...

JMHO...

Great  Another unique, non-movie related ride ruined. I love this attraction and detest Stitch. The only way I'll enjoy an update is if they fry Stitch instead of Skippy.

epcotfan,

Maybe you should start a thread...

What do you think it would taste like...

Fried Stitch, maybe Chicken perhaps; maybe even that elusive missing Chicken Finger? ;)

Oh yeah! Fried Stitch that's what I want to hear. You replace my favorite attraction and you better get burned!!! :D

I'm a big AE fan! Yes, the surprise is gone after the first time, but I REALLY enjoy bringing "virgin" guests or just listening to the chaos of all of the other guests in the ride. Maybe that makes me kinda wierd. Anyway, I've been this past December, March, and June and the line for AE was almost always between 20-45 minutes. Still popular? You bet!

I'll vote that Stitch will turn into the missing chicken finger. If that's what it takes to get it back on the menu, I might elect to change AE to SE.

AE is not one of my favorite attractions at WDW. That said, I hope it does not leave. There are few enough attractions for pre-teens/teens at WDW. If you take away AE, you are going to lose part of that crowd and its money. If Disney isn't careful it will lose out to USF/IOA with the teen crowd because they offer more thrill rides.

I like AE, sure it's not incredible by any means, but it's kind of like a showcase of what can be done solely with effects, and nearly no visuals.

It is difficult for me to figure out what Stitch is going to make this attraction become, obviously it won't be a scary attraction, so it will be interesting to see what theyre going to do with it.

But, I really do not know why they're doing this. They should put Stitch in the 360 theater, which I also hate that they shut down, I loved that previous attraction.
