Possibility OKW ST Configuration Change?

Sharon, regarding getting Std View at 11mos out, I think you would have to go day to day at the moderate to busier times of the year to ensure getting the standard views as they are quite popular for lower point cost reasons

Cheers

(PS, google search does not return anything relevant for "aerocouch" or "aerosofa" or "aerochesterfield")

you really think you are going to be able to spend a month at WDW in the winter alone.....

ever heard of grand kids....

SpiceyCat - I am sure your comment was made "tongue & cheek", but there are a great many that weren't fortunate to have kids or grandkids! (I was almost one of those, so it hits home)

SueOKW, thanks for the encouragement. I have just started looking at the point chart, trying to figure out what would be possible. Going to WDW has been impossible the last couple of years (lots of illness, last minute plan changes, etc), I guess that is why staying sometime in the future looks so attractive.

Jaysue, I was pretty sure that it would almost be impossible to book standard at BW without that 11 month window. I think I will start looking at perhaps trying to buy there, no matter what I do with the OKW points.

You would think they would have aerobeds for kids in dorms, wouldn't you?

Thanks.

Sharon

It would be possible to change it but I think it'd take a vote of the actual members and my recollection is it'd have to be 60%. It's actually cheaper to have 2 beds than a bed plus sleeper sofa, at least if the sofa is of any quality.

Thanks, Dean. I think that definitely puts me back at the points "drawing board" to figure out a plan for the future, without thinking OKW studios might change someday.

Speaking of spending a long time in the winter at DVC....
I checked in to OKW on Jan 30, and while walking thru the parking lot, noticed a car with a parking pass that had a check-out date of March 8th!

But for my family (Mom & I), the studio with two real beds draws us to OKW. If they converted "some" of the studios over, can you imagine the reservation request headaches, people complain now about handicap vs non-handicap. If someone wanted 2 beds and got 1 bed and couch (or vice-versa) that would really be a problem for some people.

Not everyone that stays in a studio is a "couple" or have "kids" to put on the couch.

If you consistently want a bed/couch studio configuration guarantee, then yes, I'd consider purchasing at another resort as the 7 month window may be harder to book in the future if several DVC resorts (especially off-site DVC resorts) were to be built over the next few years.

I'm with you, Chuck--I usually travel to Disney with my Mom as well and the OKW studio allows us both to have a real bed. I like the feeling of a room with the couch, but for us the 2-bed setup works better. The only thing I don't like about the layout is that the TV is at an angle so that it is difficult to view from one of the beds.

Wow! No, not jealous here! Nope, not at all! I'm likin' this 10 degrees and snow!

We too like the two beds at OKW. We also really like the size of the rooms compared to other studios. I like the way the rooms are shaped, no the traditional rectangle that reminds me so much of a regular hotel room. The balcony is bigger too, room for all three of us.
