Positives and Negatives on my 4/30 cruise

Positives-

Stateroom host was fantastic!* Last cruise ours wasn't very friendly but this time he was friendly and took good care of us.

Basket from Shirley at the Perfect Gift-awesome as usual!!-THANKS!

Dining Room-Servers were fantastic-if my daughter wanted something no on the menu they went out of their way to get it for her.

Shows-All of the shows were great- I was pleased that they got rid of the Hercules show-Golden Mickeys and Disney Dreams were great and the 2 Variety Shows we saw were great....my daughter loved the magic show!

Scoops was great as usual!

The Adult pool was great, not crowded and relaxing.

Rainforest room-empty and relaxing.

Spa-Had a back facial that was awesome-SO relaxing!

Bingo- I like playing bingo but they drag it out SO long...and by the 2nd night I thought I would scream if I heard a "yea baby" or "doh" one more time I would scream LOL....

The Games like Family Trivia and scavenger hunt were a lot of fun.

Palo- Fantastic!!

St. Thomas-Megans Bay was awesome.* So easy to walk off the ship and the taxis right there, cheap enough to get to the beach.* Then on the way home plenty of taxis to get you back. Our driver back was very nice...even stopped at one point so we could take a picture of the cruise ships all docked in a row from up high.

St. Maarten-very nice-water was great there, not wavy so perfect for little ones or non swimmers.* Vendors a pain in the butt though every 5 minutes!* We went to the beach right to the left of the boat dock.

Castaway Cay-fantastic.* I could walk all the way out to the buoys and the water still wasn't over my head.* The only downside was that the water playground was only opened for about 2 hours before the water went to low to use it anymore.

Smoking......yes, I am actually putting smoking in the positive part of this....Very very few times was I even around a smoker. Rockin Bar D is always non smoking so the times we were in there for family events it did not smell at all! Diversions is non smoking until 9pm. We had an entertainer the last day and he was making a joke of the smoking and he asked how many smokers there were and very few raised their hands or clapped, though I am sure some just wouldn't raise theirs or clap...but when he asked for non smokers I would say it had to be 90 percent of the place so we far outnumber the amounts of smokers. I was bothered at one of the deck parties by a stinky cigar, but I just moved to the other side and was fine...

Medical Facility- This was the first cruise out of 3 I had to pay a visit to the medical facility, and surprisingly it was NOT for my daughter (who actually did wake up screaming at 3am with an ear infection but I brought antibiotics and just mixed them up and started her on them with no need for the medical facility for that) but for my mom....I had filled her prescription for her heart medicine and she packed the bottle that was almost empty-had just 2 pills in it-we went down and they didn't charge us the 100.00 for the visit, just $1.60 for the 6 pills she needed.
BTW-if you happened to be one of our neighbors that night my daughter woke up at 3am with ear pain and screamed for an hour- I am SO sorry!!

Negatives

Never ever ever again would I book a Cat 11 room.* It was like living in a shoebox.* We were only 3 people, and one of them was a 5 year old but we were tripping over each other all the time!* There was no where to store your clothes since these rooms don't have the steamer trunk.* They also dont have the split bathroom which we loved last cruise.* It was terribly cramped, I can't imagine what a family of 4 would be like in there!

Pools-well the pools as they always are-crowded, though the goofy pool was cleaner this time around but kids still jumping off the sides onto people and at one point it was just body to body in there.* The Mickey pool was just gross as usual....one day we were there and some non toilet trained kid pooped right in the pool...nice green poop just sitting there...causes the pool to be shut down and cleaned.* People just will NOT follow the no non potty trained kids in the pool rule!* The Adult pool was great though, not crowded and relaxing.

Food- sub-par.* Nothing great or awesome about the dinners...the servers make up for it though LOL...they cater so much to you that you forget the quality of the food!

Well can't think of anything else....

Thanks for the review! I'm sorry about your DD, but that was really smart of you to take along some antibiotics, just in case! I'm glad your mom was able to get her heart pills, and that price is great too.

We, too, have wonderful memories of the adult pool. The adult pool and the Cove Cafe were 2 of our favorite spots on the ship :boat:

Overall it sounds like you had a wonderful cruise :sunny:

Lots of great points....]

I gotta agree with you on the food...always average (except Palo).

Also I MUST agree with you on Scoops! The best! I never went a day without it! :teeth:

We were on your cruise and I agree with almost everything you said. The adult pool was relaxing but a little too relaxing. We were bored over there. Why do they only play music by the family pool? The elevator type music they pipe in over by the adult pool just didn't seem like vacation music to us.
We ended up sitting by the family pool just because it was more fun over there. The kids didn't bother us.

My son woke up the last night screaming of ear pain too. He has never had an ear infection before so this was all new to us. I think it may be a case of swimmers ear but he is going to the doctor today to have it checked out. Poor kid. At least it was on the last night. Guest services did give us a bottle of childrens Motrin for FREE. I was surprised at that.

glad you had a nice time ... I do agree with you on the subject of the pools ... especially the infants ...we had our 2 yr old in swim diapers and kept her in the left ear of the pool even though she wanted to go into the big pool with her sister ... I do think DISNEY needs to take some responsibility and enforce their policies ....From the pool to whatever they try to give everyone a wonderful experience but that does not mean you should igonre what they ask .. That is one part of the cruise I dont like ..

I was also on this cruise. It was our 4th. DH & I feel the level of service is dwindling a bit. Still much higher than anywhere else, but compared to our first cruises, it went down a bit. We did appreciate the lack of push for tips, however. Last time, if we didn't answer "excellent" to,"How was your dinner?" or such questions, we were berated.

My 2 DS's may also have ear infections from this vacation. I'm waiting it out a bit before calling the Dr., but each picked up a nasty cough. Healing hugs to all.

Woobie

PS: Our cabins were at the end of a more secluded hallway (6319 & 6321). I was bummed that no one could see my door decorations. However, DH noticed that the anchors on the carpet in this hallway were backwards from the main one. If you're looking at the anchor colors to tell you forward/aft, be careful - LOL.

Thanks for the review. I have to say that I agree with everything you posted. We were in a category 11 last August and I hated it. We were also tripping over ourselves and there were 4 of us. Never again. I might consider it if it were just the two of us.

I'm disappointed that the food quality hasn't improved. With the exception of Palo, we really weren't crazy about the food and noted it on our comment cards.

Glad you had a great time.

I have a very nasty cough right now and a extremelly red throat!
Be thankful no one could see your door decorations...the first night someone stole some of ours!! We had different colored Mickey heads all around the room number and we started out with a dozen, the next morning there were 7!! We walked all the way forward that day and found 3 of them on someone elses door!! I had a mark on the inside so I know they were ours! I took them off and put them back on our door and then wrote our room number on the front of every one and no one took them again after that!

So that WAS you! I saw your door several times. I was looking for a user name of NYFamily, for some reason. Great job on the door. Glad you got them back. That explains the cabin #'s on them - LOL.
