Positive vibes..

I've lost a lot of weight and my clothes are about to swallow me whole. I didn't want to invest in a lot of clothes because i still have a significant amount to lose. So I went to the thrift store today and found some workout Tshirts & pants, some jeans and a couple nice blouses for abou $25.

That's amazing! You should be SO proud of yourself!! :yay:
And hitting the Thrift Shop? Definitely the way to go - because I have a feeling you will continue to do well with the weight loss.. Slow and steady..:goodvibes

my son 15 seen a very hot woman on tv..he said "If I woke up in the morning with her in my bed I'd put down what I was smoking and walk away." :lmao:

:rotfl:

I joined Dave & Buster's Rewards program in December when we went with friends. They've sent me six emails with $10 in free play coupons this month and another B1G1 plus a free appetizer when you buy food or beverage. So last night, I took the girls and DD20's BF for dinner to use them. They played for four hours on the coupons combined with three $10 play cards from our $15.99 eat & play combos. By the time we left, they'd accumulated a combined total of nearly 15,000 tickets too. I ate the free appetizer as an entree and shared DD9's meal so the total bill for the four of us was just $62 for four hours of food & fun.:thumbsup2

I don't know what "Dave & Buster's Rewards Program" is, but it sounds like it's been a huge success for you! :goodvibes

Even better though was that DD9 played the big claw game where you get jumbo animals out and pulled two up at once. As the claw dropped them both into the chute, a family with a little girl was cheering her on. DD9 immediately turned around and handed one of the big stuffed dogs to the other girl. They were thrilled, but I was estatic when she turned to me and said "it was only right, I don't need two and they were out of credits." That little kindness put a huge smile on my face and in my heart. Some days things just fall into place when you least expect them...:cloud9:

:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc Obviously you have done a great job in raising your DD to be kind; generous; and loving.. I think I would have cried if I witnessed that..:goodvibes

The sun is coming up right now this morning and it is one of the most beautiful sunrises I've seen in such a long time! The sky is full of stratus clouds that are streaked with bright pinks, oranges and almost a gold color. Peeking through the clouds is a beautiful bright blue. Maybe we'll actually get some sunshine today! It is a great way to start the day!

Sounds like one of the sunrises my late DH took a photo of when we were on vacation in Maine one year.. Our cottage was on a cliff - overlooking the ocean - and the sunrise was absolutely gorgeous!!!!! What a great way to start your day..:goodvibes

Dh was trying to continue to teach DD (15months) to say please yesterday. Apparently now she thinks please means mini M&M's. Every time you ask her to say please, she says "peeeeaaaas" and holds her hand out for candy.

Well I guess in this case, "Papa didn't raise no fool.." :rotfl: How adorable..:lovestruc

I finally got DH to sit down and give his opinions on our summer vacation this year - we're heading out to Mt. Rushmore, one of the many places on my bucket list. Our boys are 18 and 20, so we don't have too many years left when they'll be travelling with us. Made our hotel res. over the weekend, and today I'm going to book the flights. This is when I can start getting excited because now it's REAL.:thumbsup2

Now that's exciting!! When will you go - and how long will you stay? What else is on your list of things to do and see? I hope it's the best trip ever!!! (Even if it "isn't" WDW..:rotfl::rotfl:)

The BIG positive: DH and I will pay for the car repairs, but both boys have to pay us back, and until they pay us, they can only use a car to get to work or dr. appts., no more driving to school or to the mall. DS18 went with me on some errands over the weekend. While we were sitting in line at the car wash, we were discussing how long it's going to take him to repay the car repair (he works part-time at Taco Bell, min. wage). I expected a lot of whining because we're making them pay us back, but then he says: "I feel sorry for the kids whose parents give them everything, like a brand new Mustang for their 16th birthday, and they don't have to get a job and don't have to pay their share of car insurance or anything." I asked him why he feels sorry for them, and he said that when they go off to college and get out on their own, they won't know how to handle money or work for what they want, and they're going to have a hard time. Then he said: "You and dad are raising us the right way." Now, how often do you hear that from your own child?! WOW!!:thumbsup2

And your son is 100% correct! Good job!!! :thumbsup2

Actually, as seniors, any day we can roll out of bed is positive news :lmao:and we count our blessings while looking forward to a great 2010! :wizard:

Right.. If your name is not in the obits, you can continue on with your day in a normal fashion.. LOL..;)

It's been a bitter cold windy January, but this week has been quite the treat at a sunny 50*. :sunny:

50 degrees?? Now that IS quite the treat! :thumbsup2

Yesterday our HS DGS#2 ran in the SMAC meet, he was very proud to be the only freshman on the team and helped team win Bronze. :goodvibes

:thumbsup2

This morn our sweet SonIL#2 showed up with banana nut muffins to go with brkf and yummy cream of crab soup for lunch. He's definitely a keeper!

Oh yeah - hang on to that one - for sure! What a thoughtful thing to do..:goodvibes

Our DD#3 has been home busy raising her children last 12 yrs.
Her youngest started school in the fall, so today she has an interview for job in hopes she'll put her accounting degree back to work. :shamrock:

Fingers crossed for her! :goodvibes

DS will be back in states this week-end on 2 wks leave . After his much needed R&R we plan a family get together in NC. Can't wait! :lovestruc

This is just such terrific news! I know how worried you have been - and how much you miss him.. Can't wait for the "full report"..:goodvibes

My dear 80yo Mom got a cute little toy Poodle puppy. They are great company together and thus far he's one very spoiled baby![/QUOTE]

Good for your mom! I've often heard that elderly people that have pets tend to live longer - are healthier in general - and rarely fall into the type of depression that can strike when older folks aren't as mobile as they used to be.. Any photos?? (Hint..hint..) :goodvibes

I am happy. Every day I have the love of my life with me, good kids and we are not struggling while so many people around us are unemployed and having a hard time.

I can see that you received the "memo" on what the really important issues are in life..;)

The other day my DD's and I were talking about something we had seen before my DS was born. He asked why he didn't get to see it and I explained to him because he wasn't born yet. And he looks at me real serious (which is strange for this boy!) and says "that's because God kept me until Daddy was ready for a fishing partner". Now we don't go to church but do believe in god so I was a little surpised my 4 yr old DS said that. But it made my DH's day.:lovestruc

Adorable...:lovestruc Just love the things that the little ones say.. Kind of makes you wonder what goes on inside their heads, doesn't it? :goodvibes

My DS4 just said "Mommy, I love you the best!" and gave me a kiss. Melts my heart everytime!:cloud9:

DD11 may have Daddy wrapped around her finger, but DS has Mommy wrapped around his! :lovestruc

:lovestruc

:cool1:

My surgery (just over 3 weeks ago) to have 4 neurostimulators and the transmitter/battery implanted is so far a success! I'm just happy that I have 3.5 weeks of my long recovery down already! :thumbsup2

Yikes!! That sounds scary to me!! I'm so glad that the surgery is over now - and you are feeling so good about your recovery.. I hope it continues to go well for you..:goodvibes

Out of a really busy day, with a little mini-crisis with my Brownie troop, came a really positive thing: My computer monitor is almost 8 years old and it started flickering a few days ago and today...nothing, blank, done, RIP.
DH was travelling and when he got home, I told him about it and he looked at it and said, yep, it was toast alright. Within an hour he had a new one all ready to hook up! I didn't even have to ask. I have to tell you, I was kind of sweating, like from computer withdrawls! I do so much on email and of course here! When it was all hooked up, I sighed relief! He laughed and said "I wouldn't want you to be without your DisneyBoards too long." Gosh, he knows me! What a guy!:lovestruc

Yep - he's a "keeper"..;)

I found out today that DD#2 is expecting a baby girl. This is her 4th child and she has 1 girl and 2 boys. She is so happy to be able to have 2 of each.

Congrats on the great news!! :goodvibes When is the little one due?

My boyfriend and I spent the entire rainy evening watching The Office on dvd, endlessly snacking, laughing the entire time. It was wonderful. :cloud9: Exactly the kind of relaxation I needed!

See? Who says you have to spend a ton of money to have a super "special" day? :lovestruc

Recently, I managed to get tickets to the 2010 Kentucky Derby/Kentucky Oaks. Probably not a big deal for most people, but its sort of been a lifelong dream for this obsessive horse racing fan. Oh, and my favorite filly won Horse of the Year this week, too!

Lucky, luky you!!!!! I would give my eye teeth to be able to go to the Kentucky Derby.. That's awesome!!! :thumbsup2

I'm thankful for today. I feel good and happy. :)

:thumbsup2

Today all 4 of my children went off to school with smiles on their faces. No real reason. Just they were all happy. How can I have a bad day when it started like that?

Oh and my boys are still singing I Hope I Get It from a Chorus Line(they are 7 and 4):rotfl2:

Happy, singing kids?? No way that could be "negative"..:goodvibes

HOWEVER, this weekend is a pool party and sleepover at a local hotel, complete with pizza, cake and rented movies. Everyone that was invited is coming (how often does that happen). :scared1:  :faint::faint: Boys can't spend the night though.

She is so incredibly excited!! But I'm beginning to panic at the thought of 15 girls. :scared1: Even the woman at the hotel wished me luck. :lmao:
But I'm really excited for her. She's such a good kid and I'm really proud of her.

How exciting for your DD..:goodvibes

Slow, deep breaths, mom.. You'll be fine! ;)

I'm going to bake cookies today. By the time my kids come home from school, the house will smell so good!:goodvibes

Well - what "kind" of cookies? Are you going to share them with us?? ;)
-------------------------

I'm loving this thread - and will add my own daily positives a bit later..:)

Let's keep these positive vibes coming!!! :thumbsup2

I just turned 30 on Tues., and this weekend me & the hubby are going to see a move then Olive Garden for dinner.

Speaking of which, me & him have been married for 7 months, & we're trying for a young one. :)

Congrats on the great news!! :goodvibes When is the little one due?

She is due June 20. Also found out DD#3 is also expecting and is due in August. Love my grandbabies!!

I know it's not much but DH has been home for a whole week. And he should be home all of next week too. You see, he works construction and business has been slow around here. 95% of his jobs for the past year have been out of town. Sometimes it's 6 weeks at a time, others only a week. But we never know until they give him the job to do.

So for the first time in a long while, he's had 2 jobs in a row that are close to home.

Happy Birthday!! And best of luck with your attempts at "adding to your little family".. That's really something to look forward to! :thumbsup2

Two expected babies??? You're so lucky!! Sure wish we still had a little one running around here..:lovestruc

See the section of your post that I bolded? If we look at the positives in our lives as "not much", we're really missing out on those positive vibes that we all need and want in our lives.. Having your DH close to home is a very
good thing! :thumbsup2
---------------------------------------------

Never got back to this thread last night to list my "positives" for yesterday, but I had two..:goodvibes

When I went out to start my car, it actually started.. LOL.. Been having a hard time with the battery going dead because I don't use the car every day and was kind of worried that it may have caused permanent damage.. For now though it seems A-okay! :thumbsup2

DD talked to my DGD's "boyfriend" on the phone and was quite impressed.. (Not sure if "boyfriend" is the right term.. It's not like they can actually go on dates or anything, but it's that first time "puppy love" type thing..;) He had called to invite DGD (and both of her parents) to come over to his house, meet his parents (and siblings), and give everyone a chance to get to know one another.. (Pretty impressive for an 11 yr. old..;)) Unfortunately, they couldn't make it last night, but DD did speak with his mom and they're going to make plans for another time..

Today I spent a good bit of time working on another painting craft project.. This one is going to take forever - it's quite large, with lots and lots of "fine" details - so I'm limiting how much time I spend on it per day so my eyes don't start bothering me.. So after I stopped working on that, I got back to work on copying over some more recipes - which I've been neglecting.. While copying, I "tried" to get caught up on all of the shows I've been taping - but haven't taken the time to actually watch.. 6 tapes down, 5 more to go! :thumbsup2

Received a phone call from a friend out of state - who just became a "grandma" again.. A baby girl..:lovestruc She promised to send me a photo soon.. Can't wait to see the little cutie pie! :goodvibes

Weather was good here today - no storms - and I'm still feeling very, very positive about 2010..

I'm finding more and more that's it's the "little" things in life that we should be focusing on - all the little "positives" we have each day - that we tend to take for granted.. :goodvibes

I'm still feeling great healthwise - and sincerely hope that everyone else out there is happy and healthy as well..:goodvibes

I'm continuing to enjoy reading everyone's positve news ~ good medical reports, babies, birthdays, etc! :thumbsup2

Weather was beautiful today, 45* and lots of sunshine. :wizard:

Heard from DS today :). He was supposed to be home Fri. or today, but unfortunately he is still in that God awful place waiting for a flight. :confused3
I know his guardian angel is with him, will count my blessings and remain to think positive. :goodvibes

DD#1 called to be sure we were home, then bless her heart, surprised us and brought dinner and dessert.
It was really a nice pick my up to see her, we chatted while she enjoyed helping her Daddy put together his 3' bird puzzle he got for C'mas. :flower3:

C.Ann, so glad you're keeping busy and doing well :flower3:. Always enjoy hearing about your little DGD! :lovestruc

C.Ann, I must say that I love reading your posts on here. :goodvibes

DH may be home for a while and I am so happy about that...even though he drives me nuts when he is home. But all in a good way.

Temps were in the upper 30's today and that is downright warm for us at this time of year.

I love reading everyone's good news. Makes me feel good.

Great thread!!! I haven't had much time to visit the DIS, in the past few months, but I can see my timing is perfect! So good to see everyone "counting their blessings".

C. Ann I believe we need to see some pics of your projects!

As for me...1) It was a chilly but beautiful day here. DH and I drove down to San Diego. We spent a few hours at Sea World and felt like practically the only ones there, then had dinner in Old Town!!!

AND, in case I didn't say it on the DIS yet, we finally got licensed to Foster/Adopt. Our final meeting with the S.W. is on 2/16, then we get tossed into the hopper for matching. :cloud9:

The cold snap finally ended here. We are all back to wearing shorts again. We took the kids to the tennis courts and played for a couple of hours yesterday. They had a lot of fun and were wiped out last night. It was a really pleasant day. Nothing is as pleasant as having fun together as a family.

Sorry I didn't get back to this thread sooner.. I've been a little busier than usual.. Actually popped in for a few minutes last night, but was needed out in the LR to help my DD with something and never got back here to post..

Anyhow - Sunday was a great day! DGD has a project due for school in about a week and needed some supplies, so the two of us went off to AC Moore so she could get what she needed and I could pick up a few additional items I needed for my projects.. Somehow I managed to get out of there without spending a boat load of money, so that was a VERY "positive" thing - LOL..

After shopping we decided to grab a bite to eat before returning home and had a great time just chit chatting over what's going on in her life; some of her hopes for the future; some things she'd like to do at the lake this coming summer; etc.. It was really nice for the two of us to have some "alone" time away from the house..:lovestruc

Today it got quite warm here - although it was raining buckets all day.. Was up in the 50's, so I opened both of my bedroom windows halfway to give the room a good airing out.. (Fortunately it wasn't raining in such a manner that it would come through the open windows..) The rain melted quite a bit of our snow - so of course that turned my thoughts to when I can move back up to the lake.. I know it's still going to be at least 2 and a half months (or more), but it was nice daydreaming about it for awhile..;)

My Dson-in-law showed me the plans tonight that he drew up for my "new" scrapbook/craft room he hopes to have completed downstairs by the time I return from the lake late next fall.. I'm perfectly satisfied with the current "make shift" small scrapbook/ craft room, but his "vision" has it nearly 3 times the size it is now: three walls of counter top; shelves; overhead cabinets; under the counter cabinets; internet access; a wall bracket for a small tv/DVD player; lots and lots of overhead lighting; etc.. What he showed me tonight is just a rough draft that he sketched out for now.. He's going to do it over again in detail on his computer with his auto cad program, print it out, and then I can go over it to see if there's any changes I'd like to make..
I can't imagine anything I would "want" to change.. He's really, really good at this sort of thing and is very talented when it comes to "making the most" out of every available inch of space.. :goodvibes

So how is everyone else doing? Let's hear your "positive"/happy news!! :thumbsup2
