Unfortunately, we're back again.
This time we did 8 nights at AKL, two of us in a wheelchair. In about 75% of the time we would travel together. As such, we all know that when using busses you have to be prepared to wait for bus 2 or maybe 3, since it's a very realistic shot the bus will already have somebody on there in a wheelchair or ECV or somebody is in front of you.
With AKV now opened, except for the DTD bus, they all stop at AKV first. And let me tell you, that DTD bus comes along many many times. It happened multiple times we had such a bus come by like 5 times in 10 minutes.
Except for one day, all park busses would be there well within the 20 minutes you can expect. It would take a bit longer during the slower times, but still very efficient and not too long waits. During the whole week, there were CM's there in the morning, noting when which bus would come along, how many people would get on, how many might get left etc. I was told it had to do with the opening of the last part of AKV and trying to find out what was 'regular' demand during this time of year. When not noting they would keep waiting kids busy with games, guess parents were happy also.
Nice thing about this; they would notice as soon as there were more than 2 wheelchairs/ECV's for one bus waiting. Because of this, even if we had to wait for bus 2 -very very rare still-, it would be there way earlier than I would've expected it because most time they would radio in for an extra bus. Keep in mind, the busses were running on a quick less then 20 minutes schedule anyway.
We found out the elderly ECV-user we kept running into (and then I mean like 10 times a day
) was only 2 rooms away from me. Both of us booked CL, so when we ran into eachother for breakfast we would discuss what our plans were. Most of the times they were the same, sure enough.
Different times we ran into eachother at the busstops, other times we tried -and failed often enough- to keep out of the others way. Still somehow, we all got to the parks within little time of eachother.
One morning we knew one of us had to wait for bus 2. The gentlemen mentioned above was already waiting, so that would mean at least one of us would wait. Bus gets there, no wheelchair/ECV on it yet. So man and friend get on. The 'bus counting' CM was very apologetic about this. Que?
You know this will happen with busses, 2 wheelchairs in one party and travelling at peak hours. Anyhow, he radioed in an extra bus. Was there in about 10 minutes. Nice. So I get on and get tied down. To my
that same CM had written us out a set of fastpasses because of the inconvenience. What?!
I mean, you wont hear me complain as this was Epcot day -do Soarin' one more time without wait

-, but really!?
The night we did MK until parkclosing, it was a huge mess. As could've been expected.
Took us a bunch of time getting to the busstop -as everybody else-, thankfully ours was pretty much in front. But once we got there, again a very smooth experience. We had like 3 others in front of us. Bus 1 was there in no time. Got everybody on, left and bus 2 got there within a few minutes. Talk about making a fast exit after park hours.
I've luckily never had a lot of mwah or bad experiences with the busses, but this time it was a very nice experience indeed. Let's see how they work things out at AKL/AKV when things settle down and they no longer have somebody watching things during peakhours.
