POSITIVE recent POTC experiences? Check in please!

I'm so glad I read through this! We leave in 9 days and Pirates is my absolute favorite ride (first ride every single trip!!)… but the thought of getting soaked with my 2 year old sounded not-so-great. Thanks! I will be sure to leave my post-ride report, as well ;)

I think the lesson in all this is it's really hard to know what ride you'll get.
I don't doubt those that report a complete drenching on the ride.
I don't doubt those that report no one on their boat got more than a drop of water.
I'm certain both of those are accurate.
The nice thing about this thread is as PP said, the other one is so bad it makes folks feel like a complete drenching is the norm.
That I do not believe.
So go in to it with the knowledge that you could get soaked. At least that's how I'm looking at it. I will probably avoid this ride at night when there is no sun to aid in drying out

In October 2014 I was completely dry. As was my Dad behind me and my daughter next to me. Left side of the boat was the DRY SIDE!

Since this is a dry thread I will refrain from bringing up what happened to the people in the front right side of the boat (it involved water and my dear husband and mother.)

I can now check in on my own thread, add we rode yesterday. We were in the third row, and indeed they are filling the boats full, four abreast and I was on the far right.

The floor was wet, but not standing or sloshing. I got a little spray from the drop, but alt the same as I remember from past rides. I also got a cannonball splash, but certainly not drenching. A positive ride! Although the Blackbeard mist screen was not operating.

And yeah, I started this thread you try to get some balanced reports since the other thread is about getting wet...I figured people who had a perfectly fine time wouldn't necessarily respond on that one. I'm traveling with another couple who are first timers, so I wanted to be able to manage expectations :)

If you really want to ride and don't want to get wet, bring a poncho along. And maybe a take off your shoes and socks and put of flip flops, just in case.

We can't wait to try it out! Thanks for starting this thread and spreading some positivity:)

Rode it last night. Almost had the boat to myself, but a group showed up at the last second.
Last row to myself, a single drop of water made its way to me on the drop. The front row was laughing the happiest laugh I heard all night after the drop.
No standing water, but the floor of the boat was wet

AKA standard for every time I've been on this ride since it reopened

Rode it yesterday..specifically asked to ride in the back because of the utter drenching from the year before. Was a little worried initially because of how wet the floors were, but can report that everyone came out dry. Looked ahead to the front row folks and didn't notice any sign of wet clothing or shoes. Some spray from the cannon-shots but nothing as insane as last year. Btw, love the new costumes..ride overall looks great!
