Hoping someone might be able to help me.

I've heard loads of chatter about Disney portrait sessions, is there a place to find out more information about these?

I know that Disney brides can purchase a theme park photopackage, is this just for weddings or can anyone book it?

I've done two - one at the Poly and one at the GF. Some of the pics are in my signature. What info would you like? Both were worth every cent! If I wasn't on such a tight budget this year I would do it again (still might) Although we did the resorts, you can do a theme park one too, but to be honest, I don't know that it has the same value. It is a lot more money and shooting in the parks poses a lot more challenges than in the resorts where it is less busy.

And no, it's for anyone, not just for brides. I did mine with my DD both times

The pics in your sig are beautiful.

I'm really glad to hear that anyone can do these sessions, in terms of times etc are you restricted to days/times that they can do pictures? I would love to get some sunrise pictures (assuming DBF can get himself out of bed in time!).

How long do you get?

You can choose your length of session. Here is a link to the site.

Sunrise and sunset is a challenge as they start shooting at 8 am and do the last session around 5 pm. I have booked a 5 pm (at the Poly in 2010) and did 8 am at the GF last year but did this to avoid the harshness of the midday sun which tends not to lend itself to the best pics in my opinion. It was very easy to get appointments of my choice only a couple of weeks out. They aren't well publicised and don't book up that quickly.

I took the basic 20 minute session both times. There are only two of us and we moved quite quickly meaning it was easy to get a lot of photos in within that time frame. FIrst year we got 80, last year we got 65 I think. It costs $150 plus tax and you get a CD with copyright release and all the full res images (as you do with Photopass). The photography is now done by Disney Fine Photography. It was still done by photopass the first time we did it and we found no difference in the actual experience or final images.

You can go for a one hour session which comes with basic touch ups but you pay another $50 if you want the CD so it is in a league of its own.

If you just want a resort photo shoot, it may be worth considering an outside photographer. At the resorts you don't have to use a Disney photographer if you don't want to.

I highly recommend Randy Chapman. He did our wedding last year and we have some amazing pics from The Boardwalk, DTD and on the Wishes fireworks cruise. He is very reasonably priced and he used to work for Disney so he knows all the best places for photos.
