i received a lowes gold card in mail and it says a suite upgrade for $35 a night. a few questions if anyone can help - we are going the week of sept. 7th so it shouldn't be to busy. do i request a suite upgrade before i go or wait till i get there? has anyone ever been denied a suite upgrade. my husband says i should call from the airport when we land and ask if they have suites available so that way they can't deny it. (he has some conspiracy theories)
we have club already, so what kind of suite would i get and are they near the club lounge. thanks for any help.

If the suites are available, you would receive a Portofino suite. There are 6 of them in the hotel, all in the West Wing I believe.

They are a standard room (not deluxe) with an attached parlor which is the same size as the room and the bathroom has a large walk-in shower.

Before we were platinum, we have had it happen that there were no suites available.

Club is not considered an upgrade, so you would still need to pay for your club access.

forgot to add that the $35.00 upgrade to a suite is at time of check-in, if available.

As a gold member, you would get upgraded to a premium room (deluxe) at time of reservation. But since you already have club, there is no upgrade from there.

Just wanted to reply regarding your husband's conspiracy theories. Platinum LF get suites when making reservations if available. Gold can only upgrade to suites at check in. Loews, particularly at the 3 Universal hotels are very generous with upgrades (ie, we are platinum and were upgraded from Portofino suite to Hospitality Suite during our last stay) but the upgrades do have to be available for them to do it.
