I have booked a club level room at Portofino. I'm just wondering if the added amenities are worth the $ or would a deluxe room suffice?

That will totally depend on how big your party is, what the rate difference is, and if you will be at the hotel during peak club hours.

I have never stayed club at PBH (our fave is RPR) and we ALWAYS stay club there, even though we are 2 adults. It is totally a matter of convenience for us. I enjoy the continental breakfast (~ 7 am to 10:30), and love that I can enjoy the club lounge while hubby sleeps in. We plan our days to leave the parks around 4:30/5 for "beer o'clock" (5-7 pm) in the club lounge. Many people prefer to be in the parks during this time and miss out, so feel they don't get their money's worth out of club. However, it is a nice break in the day for us, and it is transition time between the parks and going out at night to City Walk.

Only one time did we ever make dessert, but we're not dessert people. I believe that starts at 8 o'clock.

Club also gets free access to the fitness center, but so does a Loews First card.

We love it too for the never ending suppy of bottled water, tea, and soda. We don't make grocery stops any more.

:welcome: Welcome to the Dis! We have stayed with club access a couple of times and I have always said it isn't worth it. My kids are pretty picky and end up not eating the club offerings. Breakfast is about the only time the club works for us. Could I buy breakfast for the extra $50 a day? I think so. We always go home with about a case of the little cokes though.

We just got back from Portofino club in June. We have a larger family so we have to get two rooms. We always feel that it is worth it primarily for the beverages all day. Water in the parks are around 4 dollars i think. Between that and happy hour we definitely make up for the difference in price! LOL.

Also - club level also gives you a discount on the cabana if you plan on renting one.

I was not sure if you had said that you had done PBH club before, but just a note - the club lounge is on the main level and not your floor. This was our first PBH club and that was a little different for us. Not sure if we liked it more or less though. Just different. It was very convenient when we spent all day at the pool and we were able to just run in and grab a water or a coke.

Not so convenient for breakfast. We actually only did breakfast one day. We did not really feel that it was worth the hassle of going downstairs for a bagel and some tea (or coffee or juice). We always did breakfast at the RPR and HRH club though -so i am not sure if it was the lack of offerings or a combination of the lack of offerings AND the inconvenience.

Oh yea - and this year the valet guy made a comment about us taking beverages home. LOL - maybe he thought i was going to be embarrased or something, but i just laughed and said that they should be happy the lounge is further inside the hotel or i would have tried backing the suv up the the doors and just loading cases in! I am not sure if he was amused though.

I have heard some people say that taking them home is unethical - but i feel as though i have definitely paid for them! PLUS - i love the labels on the water bottles. It feels better to drink Portofino Bay Hotel water when you are going through a long day at work.

I have never done club level in the past, nor have I done Universal. Anyone know what is included in the continental breakfast or what other food is available throughout the day?
