Hello!

My husband & I are staying at Portofino Bay in October. We'd like to eat onsite one night for a nice meal. I'd love to get opinions about the different options and if reservations are required.

Thanks!

We have eaten at all but Bice and will this next trip. Our favorite is Mama Dellas..Love the food, the atmosphere. The strolling singer is the best..Trattoria is ok.We ate there 2x.The first was fantastic, the 2nd ok.Sals marketplace is quick service and they have the BEST pizza, and I am a pizza snob

There pizza is awesome. We get it to go and eat in the room.

Does anyone know the approximate prices of Mama Della's? I looked at the menu but no prices.

Great, thanks this helps! I was looking at Mama Dellas as our top option, but wanted to hear a real opinion on it!

We've only eaten at Sal's. It's decent, but our last visit everyone agreed that the pizza had changed, and not in a good way.

And before last visit, every time we've gotten it to go they have forgotten about us. I'm talking over an hour, waiting, and they had forgotten. Once they gave our pizza to someone else, that person picked it up, took it back to their room, realized it, called them, walked it down, and handed it in while getting their pizza...and they STILL never thought to wonder what that family sitting in the outside seating, with a number on their table, was doing. (oh and we checked with them two separate times during that wait, until the third time when I figured it all out)

So I will NOT get things to go there. They did treat us right, in the end, the last time they forgot us. In the middle, though, they pretty much accused us of lying. Made right though.

But as I said, it tasted different last time. We'll give it one more try.

They hand out buzzers while waiting. We have ordered many times and never an issue.

That made me laugh.........my DH calls me a pizza snob too.......didn't even know such a thing existed :confused3

Yep Sal's pizza is gorgeous and the only reason we go to PB restaurants.

Not keen on the other 2 but apart from pizza and Lasagne........we are not fans of Italian themed restaurants........and we can't stand the opera singer :rotfl: I nearly got straight back on the boat first time I went there and heard that greet us!!

But that's just us of course :thumbsup2

Sals is great and I highly suggest Mama Della's. I think we spent about $100 for 2 including appetizer and 1 drink each.

PBH is our home base when @ Universal. Typically we eat @ Citwalk, or in the parks (Mythos!) or @ Tchoup Chop.

Last trip in January decided to try Mama Dellas since we had DS's family with us. Had reservations thru open table for 7 pm. We arrived 10 minutes early. Were told there would be an hour wait:rolleyes1despite evidence of tables being empty, they insisted 100% occupancy but did acknowledge we had a reservation. Note we were dressed for dinner, having changed out of park clothes and 3 y.o GD was on 'good' behavior;). I won't be booking it again anytime soon.

We went next door to La Trattoria and once again had a nice low key dinner. Steak is decent & we are fans of the all-you-can eat pasta station.:thumbsup2

The sandwiches at Sals are very good, quicker than waiting for the pizza. we usually get them to go & eat @ the pool.
