Portofino Bay Hotel - Is it noisy late at night?

A couple of years ago we stayed at DisneyWorld at the Contemporary Resort. We had a great time, but the only thing that was kind of a bummer was that every night we were there (we stayed for 9 nights) we could hear pounding feet running up and down the hallway on the floor above our room and in the room right above us until all hours of the night (it was so loud that it kept us awake most nights).

We are set to stay at the Portofino in late October this year, and I was just wondering if it is as loud at night, or if anyone else has ever experienced the same thing (hopefully since it is a newer hotel it may be better insulated)? It's not that big of a deal, but we're just hoping that it's not quite so loud quite so late at night so we can get up early and enjoy some of the most popular rides before it gets too crowded. We have a deluxe room, I think overlooking the Villa Pool side.

If anyone has any experiences we'd love to hear about them!

No it's not. The rooms are so quiet inside i have NEVER heard anything outside going on. I have heard a dog here or there but that's it. And that's only in the hall passing so it's no biggy. It's so quiet you will never hear anyone talking outside or your neighbor next door and the best part is they won't hear you.LOL Have a great trip and no fear your in the right place and you'll realize it the time you pull up.

Absolutely not. The hotel is very quiet and quite relaxing. That is one of the nice things about Portofino Bay - it has a calming effect after a day at the parks. You will enjoy it.

Thanks for the replies! We are really excited to get there now....the only bad part will be waiting for October 24th (the day we leave from Seattle to head to Orlando).....114 days....ughhh....

From my recent visit there it certainly wasn't something I noticed. IMHO it is as dependent on the guests staying there at that particular time as it is on the type of carpet in the hotel. I've known some 5 yr olds that sound like a herd of gallumping elephants, don't think any amount of thick carpet would have kept their noise down.

We just returned from a 6 night stay at PBH. I think the rooms were among the most sound proof I have stayed in. Our room looked out over the beach pool, and it was never loud from that. At night, the pool closes at 10pm and then it was pretty much deserted.

I found the whole hotel to be very quiet. But don't get me wrong, you can have a good time.

It is very peaceful. When we were there in Dec., my wife and I would sit out on the patio at night and relax, (we had a room by the villa pool) and really never heard a peep from anyone. Wer'e going back next week. Can't wait.

After reading all of these great posts, we're even more excited for our vacation! It sounds like we will be staying in a wonderful hotel, with great fun and excitement awaiting us in the Universal parks and at SeaWorld/Discovery Cove !
