As I've written before, my favorite restaurant is Portobello Yacht Club. My family has been going there for 15 years and it was always the first place we went when we got in town. Now since we all live here---we go about once every 2 weeks---either myself, my DD, and my DF or my parents and brother or some combo of all of us! We recommend it to everyone we know from out of town, conduct business meetings there, and host family gatherings. My parents have come to know the staff and I, at one point, even was going to work there for a change of pace from the title business. What I'm going to write disappoints me extremly...

Saturday, my DF and DD5 (who pitches a fit if we even consider eating anywhere else but PYC when at DD) needed a fix of bread and garlic and so off we went. We were sat pretty quickly outside which was a shock to us on a Saturday night, but that's all we did for the next 15 minutes..SAT. We watched servers walk past us, glance our way and keep on going. Finally, our server approached us, which angered me even more as she had passed us nearly 5 times and only had 1 other table!!! Now, before everyone has bleeding hearts for servers, let me start by saying that I was a server/bartender for 4 years while I was in college..Needless to say, I have no time or patience for bad service..especially when there's nothing going on.

DF and I ordered a beer and milk for DD. I opened the menu and was sitting there with my mouth wide open reading what appeared to be a COMPLETELY new menu. I realize that things change..and there have been changes to PYC's menu over the years, but things have pretty much remained the same. And the prices!!! Oh the prices have gone WAY up!! Ok...calm down..perhaps it's just as great..not going to think about it. Anyways, here comes the bread and roasted garlic, I can live on that right? WRONG! The crusty yummy sourdough has been replaced with an oversized dinner roll cut in two!!???

First up we ordered the Calamri. It's no longer served with two sauces, but just the marinara. I pushed the rings around on the plate and noticed that they are sitting in a pool (and I'm not exaggerating here) of grease! Yuck! Not drained properly and soggy.

I ordered the lobster ravioli

Lobster ravioli sautéed with lump crab meat and shallot tomato cream sauce 27.95

DF the Pork:

Breaded boneless pork loin pan sautéed and served over spinach, pepperoncini and red onions in red wine vinegar sauce 27.95

and DD ordered the child's penne alfredo with chicken which is no longer on the kids menu, but the only thing she eats here.

The lobster was over cooked, stringy, and chewy. The sauce tasted like a really bad version of chef boardee and overpowered everything.

The pork was so overcooked you would have to chug half a pint just to manage to swallow it and there was so much balsamic dousing everything it's all you could taste. Apparently nobody has informed PYC that pork does not have to be well done anymore.

The only one that managed to remain the same was DD's, but that's kind of hard to screw up..

I could only stomach about two bites of the lobster and sent it back...after all of this and the lack of service (which I'm not even going into) we were incredibly disappointed.

The manager did come over to speak with us and he acknowledged that they did in fact have a new chef and seemed like he's heard our story before. He was quite empathetic and didn't seem like he was overly impressed with the new changes as he has been there for 17 years. He wanted to let us know that our concerns did not fall of deaf ears and that he would address the chef directly as well as the wait staff.

Fast forward 1 hour---my parents called me after leaving MI3 and were heading over to PYC the same night---I told them beware!! 2 hours later my cell rings. They had had a horrible experience as well. Calamari in a pool of fat, the SPIEDINI ROMANI tasted like a grilled cheese sandwich drenced in oil and the pizza was no longer cripsy but bogged down with grease and way too many toppings, even the sangria recipe was different. The problem is, the locals pull PYC through the off months--and these locals won't be back anytime soon.

I need a new favorite restaurant...any suggestions?

So did you have to pay fo rthat mess?? If enough complain it may go back....

Let's just say we got a substantial discount--which really wasn't my intention. I just wanted them to know how devastating it was for our family to see such a decline in the quality of food while have such an incline in the prices. My father (scary CEO of multi billion dollar corp--former Disney employee) gave Levy an earful via email that night...We'll see what happens, but for now I'm sticking to Artist Point.
