This will be our first time dining at Yak & Yeti and I'm wondering about portion sizes and sharing at lunch. I'm particularly interested in the Crispy Honey Chicken and maybe the Sweet & Sour Chicken. Also do you know if they are both served with rice?

At home when we order something like this we usually only get a couple of orders and split them up between the 4 of us.

Thanks!

Please feel free to comment on portion size of any entrees and/or apps at Yak & Yeti if you haven't had the ones I mentioned. I appreciate any feedback!

I have seen photos. It's not really something you can split. Yes, the Honey chicken comes with rice. IMO, it's enough for one person, unless you are also getting appetizers and desserts. The picture I saw had like 8 pieces of chicken on it, maybe. Probably a cup of rice and a smattering of veggies.

You can find photos on google if you do an image search for "Yak and Yeti Honey Chicken"

It depends how much you eat. We love Yak and yeti and I would compare the portion sizes to any regular chain restaurant. Plentiful and filling, but not meant for 2 by any means. If you are used to splitting orders at home then I would bet you would be ok to split here because the portions are absolutely average.

I have had the Honey Chicken and the Sweet and Sour Chicken. They are portioned and served as individual entrees. I basically finished each. It is not like our typical Chinese restaurant at home. Rice was served with each. I enjoyed them both. I did not have an appetizer.
At home we share appetizers and then share an entree. This is different

Ok, I’m the exception here-we shared this, but we also had a salad we shared first. And it was August and hot, so it seemed enough.
If you’re still hungry after sharing, the mango pie is delicious :)

Have had the Sweet and Sour chicken. As noted, it has rice. I would not consider it large enough to split unless you get one of the appetizer samplers. or several appetizers.

DH and I shared a deluxe credit here and it was the perfect amount of food. We got the firecracker shrimp appetizer, the steak and a dessert. He's a big eater. I don't think sharing just the entree would have been enough food.

Here is a picture of the Honey chicken, My dd and I share with an appetizer and dessert it is enough for two!

I can’t speak about the honey or sweet and sour chicken entrees since we didn’t order them, but some of the entrees we ordered were very generous in size. The seafood curry stew, garlic noodles and chicken tikka masala were more than we could finish after a couple of appetizers. We took the leftovers to go and let me tell you—the noodles were delicious cold.

Our meal...sorry for the blurry photos. Apps, entree and dessert.

This is all very helpful. Thank you so much for all the replies so far!

Yak & Yeti is one of my favorites. I always order the Pot stickers for appetizer. They give you around 5, they are light and the dipping sauce is great.
My usual go to is Chicken Lo Mein, very good & they give you enough to share for sure. I swayed once & ordered the honey chicken, they tasted a lot like McDonald's chicken nuggets, the honey sauce helped :sad2: but I was very disappointed. My sister gets the ribs every time, loves them & plenty to share. The pork egg roll appetizer is great (4) I think. Chicken fried rice is goooooood:yay:
Cheesecake is delicious. I know most people love the wontons, but I think they are weird. Enjoy!

My DD and I discussed sharing the crispy honey chicken, but in the end each ordered our own and we were glad we did. Neither of us are big eaters, but we each ate the majority of our food. It was deliciois! One of our best meals of our March trip.

At table-service restaurants for lunch, my DH and I often split entrees. But we always add an appetizer and dessert. One entree between the two of us would not be enough.

So is the fried wontons!!!! And I don't share because I love everything on the menu.

I'd also keep in mind what day of the trip you're on. The first day you might eat an amount closer to what you eat at home. Later in the trip, as you've walked more miles than is typical, you might NEED more fuel than you're used to....

This is one of our favorite places to eat. My husband and I share the sweet and sour chicken, add a house salad, and the pineapple dessert is a must.
