Hey everyone:goodvibes... I am highly allergic to sulfur and sulfate. My first Trip to Disney I came home with my eyes swollen shut...that was just drinking tap. The bottled water they sell at WDW contains Magnesium Sulfate...Totally allergic to that. Last year I had my H2o shipped.. My question is ...Does anyone know of a portable filter (like ones that fit on bottles or such) that removes sulfur? I am willing to have my water shipped in but it would be so much easier if I could just refill something...I've searched the internet without any luck..:sad2: Wondering if any of you know of something...Thank you in advance and have a Magical Day.:woohoo:

I have a water Bobble which has a carbon filter. I don't actually know if it will remove sulfur. I looked it up and found probably what you did - that it removes Chlorine and Volatile Organic Compounds - I have no idea what that is! Perhaps there is a tablet that can be added to water to remove Sulfates?

Though I like my Bobble and plan to bring it this trip - I think Florida tap water has taste of Chlorine and hope this will help - I don't know that it will help you and don't want you to spend the money and still have issues.

By the way - I'm staying at CBR for the first time - I'm glad you love it!

Thanks for the info. I will look into both of those. It is a total pain to be allergic to sulfa, sulfate, sulfur...You wouldn't believe all the things that have it in them. Got to watch out for preservatives in foods as well. That's ok... Got my handy dandy quick desolving benadryl and epi pin and OFF TO DISNEY I GO!!! :woohoo:

Both the brita and bobble bottles pretty much just use a carbon filter. I think you going to have to contact the manufactures to see if it would help. I'm thinking no, for them to say they filter out a certain substance they have to go through rigorous testing.

Maybe the pitcher based britta or pur filters may work better.

I wouldn't risk it and shipped water that you know will not cause you problems.

ETA: I found this on a water treatment site.

Activated carbon is typically associated with adsorption, a physical process in which dissolved molecules adhere to the surface of the carbon filter. When used alone, activated carbon filtration removes very small amounts of hydrogen sulfide, generally concentrations below 0.3 mg/l. Activated carbon, however, has a limited capacity to adsorb hydrogen sulfide. Once the filter is saturated, the activated carbon must be replaced, not regenerated.

Both the britta and bobble and every other bottle filter I can think of use activated carbon.
