portable scooter question

Has anyone transported a portable scooter oneself with a compact car? Specifically, will the scooter fit into the trunk/hatchback area only in a compact? I see lots of claims that they will fit into "mid-size" vehicles and one video shows a scooter fitting into a hatchback type car, but with the seats DOWN. We will have a compact rental car so won't know the size/style and a child in the back seat, so am worried about whether even the "portable" models are actually going to be portable for us.

It depends on what kind of scooter you are using. Different models fit differently. The one I use now is larger and more heavy duty, so it needs a larger area than my last one that was much smaller and would fit in most compact cars.

The cost difference between a compact and intermediate is usually quite small. Do yourself a favor and go for the larger car.

Did go ahead and got a bigger car, though the company I booked with confirmed that the model of scooter we got (called "portable") will fit in a compact trunk. It does look pretty small.

not sure how helpful for you this is, have a friend who uses a small scooter all the time. hers comes apart and goes in the trunk of her small car. she is able to take apart and put together by herself. she is a smaller older person. not that she has a carseay in her car but she could have one with her scooter in the trunk so I would day it depends on how it comes apart

I had a Gogo on our last trip from Walker and we fit it into the trunk of a Versa just fine. It is really a tiny little thing once it's broken down.
