I know upgrades are not always available, but assuming they are what would be the expected cost to upgrade from an oceanview stateroom to a verandah stateroom at the port if an upgrade is available. This would be for a 7 night sailing on the Wonder out of Galveston.

Thanks in advance!

Could be some available from Galveston. Galveston doesn't sell good. No idea about costs

It's really impossible to say what it would cost :( Typically what I personally have seen when asking at the port is $400-$500 to go up one entire room type (inside to oceanview or from a verandah to concierge verandah).

It wasn't worth it for us--but we were also sailing on *GT rates those times, so our upgrade was based on the lowest possible category of our room type. It could have been cheaper for someone who paid for the 4B we had been assigned with our VGT. But really, it's impossible to say. I hope that helps a little.

Thanks for your insights. We booked a MTO fare, so chances are we would have to pay a higher upgrade fee. It would have been about $1K more to go from an oceanview to a balcony, and it wasn't worth it to us, but if an upgrade was available for $3-$500 for a verandah we would probably take it.

Just be there when the port opens for your best chance. Check in and immediately head for the supervisor's desk. The upgrades go fast. Good luck!!!

I believe upgrades are priced from category booked, but not necessarily based on fare. I've never booked MTO but aren't those specific number/letter categories? If so, your price to upgrade will be the same as the passenger in the cabin next to you who booked opening day or someone who booked six months ago. *GT rates are upgraded from the lowest category. If upgrades are available at port, they will have a chart of the price to upgrade from your category to whatever categories are available. It varies by cruise. Nobody has figured out DCL's "formula" for pricing upgrades at the port.

Enjoy your cruise!

We are going out of Galveston also soon. Our cruise is almost full with only a few rooms open still. Hopefully you will be able to upgrade on yours. Be there early and get in line as quickly as possible.
