We're doing a Sea and Land trip for my 50th birthday in February. We always have a rental car when we do just WDW. We pick up and drop it off at MCO. I am thinking about getting the rental at Port Canaveral and driving to WDW and dropping it off at MCO.

Is it easy to get from the Port over to the Alamo rental pick up?

I've considered taking the DCL bus to BCV and walking over to the Swan & Dolphin and getting the rental there, dropping it off our last day and taking the Tragical Express to MCO. This does not really have a cost savings and seems like it would take more time.

I have not rented from Alamo, but it appears they do have a shuttle from the port, and their facility is quite close to the port. So it would be easy to get to, and it's an easy drive from Port Canaveral to Walt Disney World, and an easy drive back to the Orlando airport.

If there is no cost savings in renting on Disney property, I would rent at the port. You may have a wait to get your car, but it should still be faster than walking from Beach Club to the Swan & Dolphin. You will also have more flexibility on your departure day if you don't need to board the bus 3+ hours before your flight.

While the rental is cheaper on WDW property, add in the cost of the DCL transfer to BCV and all the wasted time (I put a HUGE value on my time), I'll break even or even be slightly cheaper getting the car at the port.
The time I'll lose on check out day taking the tragical express is a big part of thinking I want to get the car at the port. Thanks for affirming that thought for me.:-)

It is easy to get to Alamo. They start the shuttles early. You may queue but it is quick.

How are you getting to the port? Disney transfers? It cost $39pp each way.
You may want to price out renting a car when you arrive and then parking at the port.
Parking is a bit expensive but it’s sometimes less expensive to rent a car for the week and it’s so convenient to have your car right at the port

We're spending two days in Cocoa Beach before the cruise. The resort has a "fly, snooze, cruise" package. They pick us up at the airport, bring us to the resort, then bring us to the Port. We've done it twice before. it's great.

We rented from National, which I think shares a shuttle with Alamo. It was very simple to catch the bus over to the rental car facility.

We returned a car before our cruise and that van driver advised us to disembark before 8:30 to avoid the madness at the rental car facility, FYI. We took his advice and didn't even wait in line for our car.

We did Alamo and were at Kennedy Space Center by 9:30. This included a leisurely breakfast and not trying to be first off, because when Younger Child does not get breakfast, life is a bad place.

Thank you. I was planning on getting off the ship as soon as we could in hope of beating most of the line. :-)
