Yes, exactly. Unless you were in the process of coming down with Covid or are traveling long enough to pick it up on your trip and test positive at embarkation or you do it wrong at home results should match.

I read that you should do a couple of tests over a couple of days since they aren't as precise as PCR. So if we do one a day for a few days leading up to the cruise, I will feel better.

This is what I'm doing. Took one end of last week and will take another one on Friday before we drive down. It'll put my mind at ease a little bit.

Ok I need to read through all this before I cry tears of joy and can maybe enjoy the next weeks before our Hawaii cruise. the PCR has been my biggest concern. dont want to get into a forbidden discussion but here in the EU, they are looking at getting away from PCR testing ( unless needed for diagonsis/treatment).. As so many are testing PCR postivie for past infections.

If it’s a healthcare-administered test or a proctored self-administered test you will get a written report of results similar to PCR results. A basic home test doesn’t provide any “proof” of the result.

Just called safe passage. They took it down because it’s not all the ports only port Canaveral and that causes confusion. But she did state starting Saturday at port Canaveral is a rapid antigen test and results will be Much faster.

this seems so stupid it wouldn’t be every port, gutted as I got my hopes up I wasn’t going to deal with stress PCR brings for my Hawaii sailing

Maybe. Or further researching individual country requirements to make sure antigen is OK.

This is good news. We are 30 days away. Our checkin is tonight.

UPDATE: IT IS NOW WORKING!! It started working right after 7:00 am for me so definitely don't wait up till midnight to do it! And, since I already had a Safe Passage account from a previous cruise all I had to do was sign in, verify my profile info and submit. I did not have to re-submit my vaccine info. The system had it and I got the green "Clear to Arrive" message. Nowhere did I see a message about changing to Antigen testing (mine is a Miami cruise).


I am very confused.....today should be when I can upload my stuff to Safe Passage but it won't let me. App is showing 14 days out and Safe Passage says to upload 15 days out so what gives....reservation # and name are correct.

This is the dumbest thing that I have heard of to date. If they don't want to test, then stop testing full stop. I got COVID in January and my Rapid test was negative. However, I spent the next six weeks getting positive results from PCR tests.

The PCR tests can show positive for months because they are so sensitive. I think the antigen tests may reflect if the person is actively shedding the virus, which is what they are most concerned about.
