Port Orelans guests (either section) can use all 7 pools around POR and POFQ. It's one of the few places on WDW propertly where pool-hopping is allowed.

Yes FQ is smaller, but as long as you don't end up in a really far-flung room you'll be fine at POR too - especially if you have a car as it's never too far to one of the parking lots. POR has a lot more going for it for kids generally in terms of activities, and also has more varied theming; the sea-serpent slide at the POFQ pool is a visual draw, but the POR slide is actually twice as long.

I say POFQ, as We have stayed at both. First let me give you my family's priorities while at Disney. First we don't eat in the Food Courts, too expensive. What we do is by one refillable mug and bring cereal, milk, OJ, and plastic bowls, plastic ware and plastic cups and eat breakfast in the room. Also we open parks every morning so I usually get up first in the AM and walk to the Food Court and fill the mug up with coffee for my wife and I. Then we all eat a bowl of cereal and go to the bus stop. Also we don't go to the pools much as we can do that at home or at the Y. We stayed at POFQ in building 5 and we were literally about a 2-3 minute walk to everything, the food court, boat dock, pool everything. It is great, unlike any other resort at disney. Oh yeah we also do laundry the last afternoon of our stay and the laundry room, which is next to the hot tub was at the bottom of the stairs to our room. POFQ is the best. Another thing. It is the last stop to Downtown Disney by boat and the first stop on the way back. It is an extra 15 min. form POR going and coming back from Downtown Disney by boat because you have to stop at POFQ both ways for about 10mins.:thumbsup2

We are asking the same question - POFQ OR POR. I am leaning towards FQ because it is smaller and seems quieter. We will have a car so driving to places should not be an issue. The size of some of these resorts seems too big for me. FQ is more my style.

Which do children seem to like better? Mine will be 4 and 8 but are not big swimmers. Can you only swim at the pool in your resort?

FQ was not quieter that is because of its small size everyone is closer together
and congregate near the only pool which is close to the food court.
PORS is more spread out so are people which makes it more quiet.
When you are at PORS you don't have to walk around the whole resort to get
places, you just have to get around the section you are staying in
and I found this to be no farther than getting around FQ whenever we stayed there.
Also, PORS has quiet pools in each section (these each have a Laundry room) so
unlike POFQ it is easier to find empty washer and dryers because there are much more
of them.

If I had kids under 6, I'd go POFQ. Older kids or adults only, I'd go POR.

I think everyone else covered the basics.

Another vote for POFQ!! We LOVE it there. Have been twice & very very happy both times. I love the smaller resort feel much better.:thumbsup2
