While I do love both and I do not really think you can go wrong with either, French Quarter is smaller and more intimate in my opinion.:goodvibes

We have stayed several times at POR and only strolled over to POFQ but my thoughts are...POFQ is really nice and compact and I love the theme but there are more benefits to staying at POR for the same money. POFQ only has one pool and not very big while POR has several quiet pools also. The food court at POFQ was very crowded every time we went there, has your basic food court food while POR has a great food court with make your own pasta, salad etc. POR has a sit down restaurant and bike and boat rentals also.

We've stayed at both and much prefer POR. POFQ just wasn't what we expected it to be. POR is DH's favorite resort out of all of them at WDW.

I say French Quarter and I have not even stayed there yet but will be in March. DH and I have stayed at POR 3 times and loved it and I have tried so many times to get in FQ but they are always booked...much smaller resort and the buses stop there first.

I booked our trip in early August and originally wanted CSR. But, the only thing "available" was POR. Have had TA try at least 2x per month to get us into either CSR or POFQ to no avail. I have actually decided that I don't want to stay at CSR after all, and have been trying to get into FQ. We have stayed at both POR (when it was Dixie Landings) and POFQ, and I remember liking the feel of the smaller resort back then. But now, have an ongoing foot problem that is making walking painful, so I really need to be close to a bus stop and close to the main building/food court. It is not bad enough to rent an ECV. Not sure what to request now - Riverside or FQ. If we stay with Riverside - Mansions or AB? I posted about this on the Disabilities forum and got some good advice - don't actually request a specific building, request either close to a bus stop or close to the main building. I am soooooo confused!:confused3 How did we ever figure out these Disney logistics before the DIS boards existed??:rotfl2:

Riverside! I've stayed at both. At Riverside the pool is much more cozier and the grounds are greener and lusher.

We love POFQ. Love the themeing and the size of the resort. It is not too large - you are never too far away from the pool and the food court.

We also love to hang out at the Scat Cat Club and listen to Elliot Dyson perform. He is there Thursday to Saturday from 9:00pm to midnight. We always make our way over there at least once or twice during our visits (even if we are not staying at POFQ).

We were just married in Disney this past November and out of the 50 people attending our wedding, 40 stayed at POFQ and everyone loved it. We are staying there this coming March for my DH's 50th birthday.

We've never stayed at either but we keep saying one of these days we are going to try POFQ if we ever leave CSR (which I don't ever see happening). We have visited both POFQ and POR and didn't care for POR at all, but thought POFQ was very quaint and pretty.

My DH feels the same. We've stayed at both and while staying at FQ
had to go over to Riverside several times to eat at there CS and
sitdown Restaurant so I thought to myself--Why didn't we just stay
here again? It would have been easier.

I agree 100% love the landscaping at RS.

I voted for French Quarter! Because This is our first time to stay in the French Quarter for January!

We love POR  and can't wait to be back there in March!! We have never stayed at FQ, but have been over there to get beinets and stopped several times on the boat to DTD. It's nice, but nothing compared to POR. But everyone has different opinions on what works for them. I think either way you go you'll be fine, after all you will be at Disney.:wizard: But for my family we vote POR!!:thumbsup2

I say French Quarter. I have only stayed at french quarter but we did walk to Riverside one morning. Riverside was nice but I liked the fact that French Quarter was smaller. You had less walking to do to get to the food court or the front desk or the pool. They have really cool alligator statues outside the pool area. And there is only one bustop unlike the 4 bus stops at Riverside. And French Quarter is usually the first sop. So you get on the bus first and you get home first.

Riverside for me too. Although it is much larger (which may be an issue) there is also so much more there, and the diversity of landscaping and theming are wonderful, especially in the Alligator Bayou section. Pluses include better & more pools, bike/boat rental, horse-drawn carriage rides, fishing hole, pirate adventure cruise for the kids, two restaurants (a bigger food court plus a table-service location)

Don't get me wrong though, POFQ is lovely too, it's smaller and more quaintly laid out - and after all, it's only a 10 minute walk over to Riverside to get all those extra facilities if you want them.

Basically, whichever you go for you'll have a great time!

POR is my family's favorite mod resort. We stayed there the first time in 2007 and are returning there in March. The slide at the pool is fun, there is a fishing hole for those who would like to catch and release fish, Boatwright's has a really good breakfast menu (and it is not expensive either), you have the boat to DTD (I know you have that at POFQ), the layout of the land is so beautiful. It is like you have 2 resorts in one, you have the AB section and you have the Magnolia Bend section. We love to rent a surrey bike and ride around the resort. We also like to either take the ferry or walk over to POFQ and use their pool and amenities as well. I don't think you will have a bad time at either resort, but for our family we prefer POR. Good luck choosing and have fun on your trip.

We are asking the same question - POFQ OR POR. I am leaning towards FQ because it is smaller and seems quieter. We will have a car so driving to places should not be an issue. The size of some of these resorts seems too big for me. FQ is more my style.

Which do children seem to like better? Mine will be 4 and 8 but are not big swimmers. Can you only swim at the pool in your resort?
