WHat do you recommend as the best way to get from the Port Orleans Riverside to both the boardwalk and DTD? How long will it take? Also, are the Boardwalk and DTD close to each other? Thanks.

Boardwalk is actually much closer to DTD than I had thought....I came to realize just how close it is the one time I drove myself there!!! Took about 8 mins!!!
I would take the boat from PO to DTD if it's running. It's such a nice way to get there and back.
To get to BW, I would head to DHS and then take either the boat to BW or walk along the canal on the nice walkway. The walk takes about 15 or 20 mins tops...depends on how fast you walk.
To get back to PO from BW, later at night, I would either take a cab, or if you didn't mind the time spent, head to DTD and then either boat or bus to PO. I have been told that there are buses at BW very late at night to get you back to your resort, especially if you've been at Jellyrolls.

Thanks for the great info. I see from pics of the boardwalk that there is a boat that goes there, where would that boat originate from? Also, if a person was going in the evening, would there even be a bus from POR to DHS after the park is closed? How much do you think a cab would be from POR to the Boardwalk? We are just two adults travelling so for us, both the Boardwalk and DTD look very interesting as it's not a "Disney" as parks like the Magic Kingdom. Thanks again.

The boats at Boardwalk run between Epcot and DHS. The boat from Epcot stops at BW, the YC/BC, S/D and then down to DHS. When boating from DHS, the boat stops at S/D, YC/BC, BW, then lastly at Epcot. The boat has a dock right out on the boardwalk itself. The boats run up to an hour after DHS closes. But, there will be buses that will run from DHS several hours after it closes.
If going to DTD, from PO, I would opt for the boat. If heading to BW, I would take a cab if DHS is closed. I can't say how much it would be though...under $20 I would imagine. I would tend to use the cab for the ride back to PO from BW though if it's going to be late at night.

As far as heading to BW, looking for a night's entertainment....I love BW, I own DVC there. It is one of my favorite places in the world. But...unless you are planning on going to Jellyrolls, there really isn't all that much to do there. Yes, there is some family oriented entertainment on the boardwalk itself..jugglers, magicians, games. But nothing I would make a special trip to do...unless you are planning on spending some time at Jellyrolls. And like I said, if heading to Jellyrolls and leaving there late at night, there are buses that will get you back to your resort. But I'm just not sure what time those buses start running.
I would think that DTD would be much more interesting.

Thanks Diane. Being that it's out first time, we will see them both. We are planning on going to Jellyrolls so the trip to the BW would be worth it for us. We will keep all your info so get the transportation correct. Thanks again.
