We are heading to Disney for a weekend trip for my birthday. I am looking into Port Orleans, but the royal rooms don't have the option of king bed so we can't book one of those so is it still worth it? I don't see too much difference between the moderate and value. I'm wondering if upgrading to a deluxe or downgrading to a value and saving the money would be a better option. Anyone really love port orleans or another hotel you can convince me on? We usually stay at the dolphin but they are all booked up.

Only you can answer if not having a King room is worth it. We have stayed at all levels and for our family, we see more of a difference from value to Mod then from Mod to Deluxe and really think they give us everything we need without paying $$$$ on a Deluxe. We enjoyed all the Mods.

Port Orleans would be a great choice for a weekend getaway. It's tremendously and beautifully themed and you really do feel as if it's an upgrade from the values. But, yes, Royal Rooms do not have Kings. Only you can decide if that is worth it for you.

I love Port Orleans Riverside! Royal rooms do not have kings, but the regular rooms do. I like the theming of mods over values, but it is up to you to decide how much time you will spend at the resort and if that matters to you. There are a lot of fun things to do in the area like to boat to DS, carriage rides, and Yehaa Bob's show at the RR. The resort is beautiful and relaxing, lots of quiet pools.

I would chime in with Riverside love. The resort is my favorite moderate and extremely beautiful. The royal rooms are cute, but not exponentially nicer than the rooms with king beds.

Riverside has the most beautiful grounds & pathways! It has the best food court on property! The rooms are a good size, the river is pretty, the pools are large & clean. The linens & towels are a bit above other mods. Everyone working there is pleasant!

Of course you will love it!!!

How about a standard or pool view at The AKL? If there is a discount available, it may not be much more than POR RR's. It is still a deluxe, but is so beautiful with balconies on the rooms and great dining options.

CSR in business class is an awesome choice that is a moderate and includes a breakfast and some snacks/beverages at certain times throughout the day! The pool and dining options are really good here as well.

IMO it's totally worth it to upgrade to a moderate (CSR is also beautiful if you can't get POR) from a value. We did see a big difference.

I registered for this forum just so I could reply to your question. At the risk of encouraging more people to stay at my favorite resort, YES POR is absolutely worth it. We have come to WDW every year since 2005 and have stayed in a number of the Moderates and a couple of the Values (we really like Pop for a Value, the All Stars-not so much). Never in a Deluxe, just can't see that it is worth the additional $$ over POR. As others have said, the grounds are lovely, a very relaxing environment, lots of fun things to do, the bikes, the boats, the ferry to DS...comfortable rooms with fairly close parking if you're traveling with your own car. Close enough to MK, Epcot and HS although a hike to AK. We have never been disappointed with a stay at POR, in fact even when we're not staying there, we always head over just for a "visit" :-)

I agree.

And welcome.

Subjective as all giddy-up...but as a believer I'd say to stay anywhere at POR. You will not be sorry.

I loved POR! I have stayed at all levels and I really loved our stay at POR. The boat to Disney Springs was a great bonus along with just an over all beautiful resort. We needed a room to sleep 5 without costing a fortune and it worked out perfectly.

I love POR, but would only want a preferred building next time. So far my favorite resort that I've stayed in is BWI.

Glad to hear how highly everyone is talking about POR. My family and I are arriving there on Monday for 5 nights.

Even most deluxe rooms don't have kings. They're extremely rare at Disney.

Packing and getting ready to leave in about 8hrs for our 16hr trip by car to POR. Let the excitement begin.... We are staying in a RR and can't wait to see all the special touches.

If it is a couples trip, i would absolutely recommend POFQ. Beautiful resort, small, not crowed, and the feel is so romantic and the food is amazing. We stayed there with all of our kiddos in 2 rooms but it was probably the most romantic trip my DH and I have ever been on. There was something definitely about that resort that screamed romance.

Just returned from a royal room at riverside. It was the best pace we have ever stayed. The touches of magic are nice in the room. There is a slower paced atmosphere there. It is a nice contrast from the business of the parks. Also, we had a river view room and it was close to the bridge to the lobby, boat, busses and restaurants. Worth the upgrade to river view.
