Has anyone stayed at the POR, Its my first time staying there. I am going there in June with my DH and DD4. Can anyone tell me what building is good there? Any info on this resort would be greatly appreciated!

Our family loved this hotel! It's a large property. We stayed in the preferred rooms (free upgrade) as they are closer to the lobby and food. Though the rooms across the river look very neat also! The rooms are larger than a value resort and are in a lot of separated buildings. They have a pretty good sized smaller refrigerator and microwave. They have onsite pizza delivery as well, which comes in handy when you're tired. Of course, there's a boat to DTD. Have fun!

Preferred rooms are probably the best since they are close to the lobby/food court/main pool. We were building 26 and we didn't find the walk to anything too terrible :) It definitely is a big resort but it is beautiful and I actually quite liked the 'scenic' walk in the mornings and evenings :)

The "preferred" rooms are closer to the pool and central resort and would cut down on the walking. There are quiet pools by most of the building as well so if you do get placed in an outer building, you can swim without a long walk.

We stayed in building 118 and were happy with it. The walk wasn't bad at all to the food court/lobby. It was a little bit further to the main pool/playground, but there was a smaller pool close to the building.

It's a pretty resort, so you won't mind a little extra walking around it. :)

I will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside for the 4th time in just 5 more days!!

The only other resort I've stayed at was the Contemporary back in 2001.

Definitely  POR, it's a beautiful moderate resort. We always stay on the Mansions side. Have been in Oak once and Magnolia twice. We really don't care which Mansions building they put us in, because there are several bridges leading to the main pool area which is just another bridge walk over to the lobby and food court, etc.

They have a boat that goes to Downtown Disney (also bus, of course, but it's so nice and relaxing to ride the boat).

They have bicycle rentals, and horse and carriage rides.

And it's just a short walk over to the French Quarter too.

The landscaping and river are so pretty, and there is wildlife (rabbits and birds).

As a PP mentioned, there is a dedicated thread over on the resorts board for Port Orleans Riverside. You will find a TON of useful information there, plus there is a website just for POR as well (google it, I can't remember the name).

We are returning to POR this May since we were so pleased with our stay last trip. They have a good table service restaurant and their quick service food court is one of the best on property - lots of seating and lots of food choices. We also really like the boat ride to Downtown Disney. As a PP mentioned, there is a thread on the Resorts board but the dedicated website is portorleans.org. It's very extensive with lots of photos and information.
