Although I have never stayed at a moderate, PO Riverside was very, very nice. We were at the Parterre Place in the 9000's.

We walked in asking for two rooms near each other. At check-in, they offered us adjoining rooms at $115/pn/pr! We thought that was a great price. The Swan and Dolphin were asking for $249 (crazy for a hotel room, high above). I prefer wide and low hotels like OKW.

PO Riverside was very quite, quaint and pleasant.

The only suggestion I have is to add the following in all rooms: a small refrigerator, hair dryer, iron and coffee maker.

However, for the price, it was great. I would recommend it.

:)

How did you like Parterre Place? If you were to return which building would you want to stay in? Were going in November and I'm trying to figure out where to request a room.

Glad to hear you had a great time!

They don't have an iron or coffee maker?????

I guess I didn't realize that. We did get a refridge.

I also have been struggling with the differrences in the rooms. I have not put in a request yet.

Laurajean1014,

What were your impressions of the Parterre Place rooms? Were they clean or did you see dirty and/or worn areas?

Also, how was your view? Did you get a water or garden view?

Thanks in advance for answering my questions! :)

Coffeemaker, hair dryer, iron, and board are available by simply calling housekeeping. They will deliver them to your room. There is no charge for these. Only the fridge has a daily charge.

We've stayed in two different sets of connecting rooms at Parterre Place twice in the last six months. We have been pleased both times. However, ask for first floor - at the end of the day that hike up to the third floor is painful for sore tootsies.
We were in 9609 and 9610 this time (I think), which were in the back. But, they were quiet and in excellent shape. I'm always afraid that rooms too close to the main building might feel a little more "used".

We stayed in Parterre Place in 1999 and there was a elevator is it no longer working? We are planning on taking the kids to PO-R next year.

There is an elevator in the center of the 3 story mansion sections (not all sections of the mansion buildings are 3 stories). Since there is only one elevator bank, it might sometimes be more convenient to just take the nearest stairway to your room.

We stayed in 9777 and 9778 and we loved it. We were on the second floor, we did not mind the short climb upstairs. We had a river view and you could walk to the lobby. I thought it was a great bldg. We did not get to see the main pool, but did pass the area pool, which looked great.

The room itself was not worn in any way. I am very picky and my employee is a clean fanatic. She was quite impressed. The housemaid was a little stingy though. I don't collect the soaps and shampoos, but my employee wanted them. The next days, I did not receive a replenishment. I also had my clothes dry cleaned and launderd but the housemaid never left a laundry bag.

The nerve.....

We did request a dryer, iron and board. If I knew you could request a refrigerator, I would have done so.

Each time I stay at a resort, I buy a watercolor. Just finished framing and matting my POR! It looks great and now I can pass by it in my hallway and remember the great time I had with a good friend. :)

We stayed at Parterre Place last August. We had a corner room on the first floor facing the garden (on the end that is closest to the lobby/gift shop/food court building). The room was in good shape. The carpet did not look worn at all, the bedspreads were in good shape, etc.

The downside to Parterre Place is that it isn't close to anything. You have quite a walk to the food court, Ol Man Island pool and playground and the bus stops. The closest quiet pool is quite a bit closer than the theme pool, but it isn't just around the corner either. While the walk to all of these locations isn't all that long (maybe 10 minutes), after an exhausting day at the parks, the last thing you want to do after arriving back at your room is hike someplace else.

By the way, when we checked in, the only rooms available at that time were in PP.....I was aware of the lengthy distance and was trying to wangle a different building, but one of the buildings was unavailable due to refurbishing, and the other two buildings didn't have any rooms cleaned and available for occupancy. We wanted to get settled in, so instead of waiting an indeterminate amount of time for a room to be cleaned in another building, we went ahead and took the PP room, knowing it would be more inconvenient than other locations. The CM checking us in was trying to make the buiding location sound attractive by telling us that PP was the closest POR building to POFQ. While this is true, it would be a real hike to go POFQ.....we didn't fall for his sales pitch, but took the room to get our vacation started. If I were you, I would try for any of the other three buildings (Acadian house is farther from the food court than Magnolia Terrace and Oak Manor, but it is conveniently located by the East bus stop).

We love Parterre Place, but we like it to be quiet. We have also stayed in Acadian House and a couple of the Bayou homes. We like all of them.
